Outdoor Smokey's 2020 Grow - Summer- Autumn Winter

the acurate8 probe thing is in a league of its own............but regular soil ph probes will only give a true ish reading in moist soil.wet/dry will give way off readings.not instant like a ph pen, some ya gotta leave in for 5 mins.
good luck n keep er lit

Thanks Archie ,long time no see:pighug: I will try damp soil next time i do a reading again, yes the accurate8 would be an overseas job , not the best with the covid and slow slow mail. ONe is supposed to be japanese made lol

yamaha, suzuki, honda, kawasaki i dont doubt the quaility of japanease kit, just the sciencey bit requires moist for the probe tip.
and please read the instructions, some have a copper tip and need a rub with a green scouring pad once in a while,a speck of rust can woowoo the readings to.
good luck n keep er lit

Hey Archie :pass: You forgot Technics, i huge a big collection of Technics stereo gear. ( Pic of Dustinator - the Technics SU-V8 amp). The PH meter came without instructions, which made me question if it was really Japanese.

This time i cleaned the tip with a soft rag between testing. I also about 30mins before just wet down the soil a before taking readings. Now i wonder if there is a pH issue.

LH:
1. 4.5 first reading of meter ( ignored this and did a few more)
the other readings were 6.1, 6.2 and 5.5

SLH:
6.3, 5.5 (3 times) 6.0, 5,9, 6,0

DP:
5.5 , 5,8, 5,5, 5,7,5.2 ( all in the 5s? maybe ph UP)

BBK ( small girl best looking one 6.0, 6.2)

Dustinator made in Japan, 80s beast

Hey smokey:toke:Lots of bud coming from a winter grow. Glad they were under cover for the big rain...some of mine just endured a nasty soaking before I got them in, cold and windy too:eyebrows::pass:
Hey Jraven, :pass: Yes i may have ph issue not sure yet. Yes that would have been bad in that sort of rain maybe even bend the branches down. Poor girls of yours that would have been cold for them, love to be back in the greenhouse.

Cool youtube video I found myself with a big grin watching it. Maybe it's a grow thing. lovely plants.
Thanks GreenHornet :pass: I agree i think its a grow thing and is nice to see the plants moving in the breeze,. kind of like a live update. Reminds me,in the Aussie Cannabis forum, someone there he used a drone to video his guerilla bush grow

---------------

Did a few readings again after finding a video on the DM15 how to use etc clean

LH 5.5,6.1,6.2 and 6.4 - be in the 6s

DP,, interesting again, sub 6s again 5.5 5.0 5.5

SLH 6.1,6.1 6.2, she is in the 6s

BBK 5.8 6.8 6.5 say she is in 6s

I think you've found the reason.
Not a lack of N, but pH a little too low.
Not sure how you're going to bring it up quickly.
But in the future, a bit of fine dolomite lime in your media may help stabilize things.

Thanks SM, i remember seeing a video of KOG, an Australian that grow bush weed and got busted and then after jail returned to growing, anyway, i saw on his videos of him spreading dolomite, def will include with the soil seems the PH issue is mainly Duban Poison others are within range. I had a look at the hydro store, there is ph up and ph down. and true not sure how long it will take, dolomite is natural so would be slower to react.

I gave them 1/4 strength power feed with NPK of 9.5/2.0/6.8 along with Gogo Juice 1/2 strength, waterd on monday, but could have stretched them but decide to water anyway and get some N in but yes Durban for sure a Ph issue hence she is the worst of the girls, bubba is the best - good readings of pH

Usually people say that the dolomite lime is slow and long lasting.
I personally felt that mine benefited fairly quickly once I used as a top dressing, and it has continued.
The Thai was really losing leaves fast before.
Now, she's still losing, but no where near as quickly, more like a regular rate nearly end of flower.

I thought that if you put some dolomite in water, even though it doesn't "dissolve", it must have some effect.
But I checked ppm levels, and there was very little difference straight away.
I think it took maybe ... a week to see effects, IIRC.

Do you even know why your pH levels are that acidic / low in the first place?
Something you are adding? or the media itself?
