Outdoor Single plant grow - Mdanzig Sour Spyder

index.php

I took a close look at my girl this morning and yes, the trichomes are just starting to turn amber. :woohoo1: I am a bit bummed because my newbie instincts told me to start a flush last week, and just yesterday I gave her a weak dose of bloom fert. Live and learn I guess. Anyway, I think I will harvest very soon. I just flushed the soil and it is rather windy today so I expect the soil to dry in a couple of days, and then I will harvest. The picture is not real clear at this size, but there are just a few amber trichomes with more to come quickly I am sure.

The poor plant's leaves do not look that good because of my thrip battles, but the cholla is heavy and all the buds are of good size. The plant just looks heavy! I am a bit confused that so few leaves have yellowed...

Please comment!

You can see a percentage of amber trichomes even in this slightly blurry image. I have decided to harvest tomorrow morning, at least the top of the plant

I harvested the top cola yesterday at sunrise. Since this is my first grow, I had no idea how much a single large bud would stink! This plant seems to be maturing at different rates from top to bottom. I may have harvested the top earlier than some; the trichomes were about 10-15% amber. Some friends said "harvest now" and others said wait a couple of weeks. So, I am going to stagger the harvest as a learning experience since I have two more plants started. The first is starting the bloom cycle but still being fed grow ferts and the other is about 2 inches tall.

The image is of the trichomes on one of the remaining top buds.

Comments welcome and encouraged since this is my first grow.

The larger leaves that remain are starting to yellow, I pulled about a dozen this morning.

(Please disregard the cat hair in the picture. It seems to be everywhere, even outside.)

My plant has started to show a few yellowing leaves on the interior and I pulled half a dozen leaves thiw morning. It looks to me like she is, at long last deciding to finish. I am very pleased so far, even though I have had issues with thrips. In all my years of growing ornimental plants, and the couple of times I have helped people with their marijuana grow, I have never battled these little bastards! Mites are worse in my opinion, but thrips really suck...the juices out of a plant.

And now I am starting a few more plants and will start a new journal for them. My big question for my second grow is, how do I prevent thrils and mites this next time? I am thinking I will do a few preventative sprays.

I would start off by drenching with hot hot water a few days before your put the seed into the soil to kill any larva or bug that may be inside your soil.. after that drench with Neem oil. I am surprised the bugs like the heat that you have 100 + degrees. Good luck in the future

I chopped the cola 4 days ago, and yesterday I cut the next few branches. So far I have cut about a third of the plant. I am drying by hanging for 3 days and then into a paper bag. I am planning on harvesting in stages and my next cut will be in a week.

And yesterday I harvested some more, my second cutting. I al leaving the bottom few branches to see if the buds will fill out a little more...I expect not but why not try? I knew the buds were purple but did not realize how pretty they were until I trimmed some leaves. I am not doing a heavy manicure because the leaves are so covered with crystals and I really don't want to make hash. I really don't mind a somewhat leafy bud, in fact I prefer them that way.

As always, comments welcome.
