Hey people!

I am starting my first indoor grow in May and I am therefore purchasing a tent. Since I don't have unlimited funds I have looked into buying a complete package (as I have found decent deal):

http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Kinggreen-Growbox-Set-80x80x180cm-250-Watt

This comes with a Systemair RVK Extractor Fan 184m³ 100mm. Does this produce a lot of noise? I live in a tiny space with my girlfriend and I need something that does not annoy her 18 hours a day (if possible).

In case this fan is very noisy, should I buy a silencer like this: http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Systemair-Silencer-R-100mm/4inch-Length-600mm
or one like this
http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Mini-Silencer-30cm-R100mm ?

I could also go with one of each, one for the inside, and one for the outside. Please tell me what you guys think.

Thank you loads! :)

Nothing? No one?
Since I know absolutely jack about indoor growing I would really appreciate any advice or past experience you'd want to share. :)

Don't expect it to quiet your fan, it will only reduce the noise of the air entering the ducting if you use a duct. Better to buy a larger fan and a speed control, you will move the same amount of air and reduce fan noise

:coffee2:Aloha Athlete~
Happy for you that you're starting a grow, but I have no idea about a silencer (I just wanted to welcome you to growing, ya know?). I'm lucky that I can make all the noise I want and don't care if I smell the whole place up with the fresh scent of fresh herbs, so I'm glad pop22 jumped in.

That set up looks pretty cool. My first grow I bought a pre-made-set-up bc I needed (wanted) it quick. Now I see that I can get all the stuff, better quality, for as much or less. You have till May so you can take your time a little.

so... the only advice I can give you and stand behind (bc I'mma chef :Medibles:) is:

*don't fry chicken or bacon naked.

aloha

Thanks guys! pop22, do you have any experience with acoustic boxes or other ways to reduce fan noise? Since this is a set I am purchasing and my funds are limited I am thinking of ways to stay with this set-up and still reduce the sound.

Haha Hapa. Thanks! I am also a chef and I can also give you a piece of advice: Smoke up and get creative in the kitchen

Any ideas for reduction of noise would be appreciated :)

Also, if I decide to purchase the entire set-up with the Systemair RVK Extractor Fan 184m³ 100mm and additionally buy a speed control, would I be able to run it at 50-75% considering that my tent would only be 80 x 80 x 180 CM (1.15 cubic meters) (would be 2 feet 7½ inches x 2 feet 7½ inches x 5 feet and 10.8 inches). I live in a cold climate in the northern hemisphere where temperatures rarely exceed 30 degrees C (86 F).

I hope this does not get too technical. As I said, I am a complete beginner when it comes to indoor growing - my dad is a hippie who taught me to grow in the wild :)

Peace and thank you all!
