Mephisto Genetics Seymourbud's Soapbox

Day 45 update (except for Sweet & Sour which Day 27).

I have been collecting pollen from 3 male Stone Dragons to 1.) pollinate a Stone Dragon female, and 2.) pollinate several Mephisto varieties that I use as nighttime meds.
I dusted the SD female yesterday, and I have pistils turning brown, so I guess I was successful. I think I have enough leftover pollen from 3 combined to dust a few Mephisto strains I intend to run next. I am still collecting pollen at this point, but will start the three Mephisto seeds I intend to pollinate and I need to space that the SD males are using, so the clock is ticking for them to finish up spewing their pollen. I will need that space (in the breeding cab) in the next 7-10 days.

So I took some photo's to share with those who have knowledge of making seeds and those who have never done this so you can learn ( hopefully not from my mistakes.).
Chime in if you have questions or advice. Now to the pictures...

those males look great nice colors

Thanks @stoney T , two of the three males developed some color. Male [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] had the most purpling, then [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] male was next. The [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] male had almost none. I used male [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] to pollinate the lone female. I am not sure if the coloring was dna/genes or the temps in the cabinet which at time went down to the mid to low 60's. Drying the remainder of the pollen now before it get refrigerated/frozen. Also just got done watering down the cabinet to kill the pollen that was all over the inside of the cabinet. Man, that sh1t get absolutely everywhere. But I got more pollen then I can ever use, so I guess it was worth it.

Here is the motherlode of pollen I collected from the 3 Stone Dragon male plants. I am sure there was almost just as much on the inside of the cabinet walls, shelf, ceiling, doors, extraction opening, etc. It was everywhere, and it required a good cleaning to ensure what I did not capture did not remain viable. Going to be putting 3 Mephisto ladies in the cabinet during the next week, so I need it clean. The pollen still needs some cleanup of foreign matter that is in it as you can see in the pictures. But my patience for that work had run out and I was afraid there was going to be an incident as I got tired from the meticulous job of collecting, so I stopped for the day.

Going to make two vials of pollen. The first one will be refrigerated and have enough to pollen to pollenate the 3 Mephisto ladies; Gold Glue, Blue Toof Special, and 24 Carat.

The 2nd vial will be frozen and used for a future project(s), within the next 6-9 months. Now to the pictures...

First time for me collecting pollen, but from what I have read, 30-60 days if it is refrigerated. And up to 1 year if frozen, and thawed properly before using. Although, as you get to the end of those time frames, viability starts to decrease. I plan to hit the mephistos in the next 30-45 days, as I am going to use smaller pots and when I ran them before the date for flowering starting was day 25-30. So two weeks later should have the pollen that has been refrigerated still at a high rate of viability, I hope.

Update for the flowering girls. Day 55 for all but Sweet & Sour which is Day 38.

White Crack - Day 55 - Seems as though I have finally stopped all the clawing from the mistaken over feeding I did early on. They seem to be on the right path now, packing on lots of trichs and a bit of swelling. Not sure, but I imagine my early over feeding mistake may keep her from being the best and biggest she could have been, but totally happy she has rebounded and she is turning into quite the looker.

Ghost Toof - Day 55 - I think the over feeding mistake took it biggest toll on this girl. I will only know once I run her again, and I plan on doing that very soon. She is very thick with branching near the base of her stalk, so much so, that I felt the need to open her up some to avoid possible mold/rot from not enough air. She is the one that is looking like she is packing on the most trichs ( along with WC). She also seems to have a sour note in her aroma, that I only notice when I am smelling all the other girl as reference. the Mephisto notes don't mention the sour aroma, mostly because she is an Illuminauto and they have many notes about their grows of these girls. But I did go back and look at notes of her first drop as an Illuminauto with reversed parents and there was a agreement of a sweet aroma. She definitely is not sweet, mainly sour fruit to me.

3 Bears OG - Day 55 - This girl has me a bit perplexed. Her droopiness (if thats a word) was the key factor in discovering that I had made a mistake with the nutes and the ratio I was using. So naturally, I though when I gt everything back under control, she would regain a normal form. WRONG. She still is droopy, but she is swelling and maturing well enough that I no longer have concern for her. Not sure if this is normal for her, but we will find out soon enough as I plan to run her again as soon as I can taste her and verify she is what I am looking for.

Sweet & Sour - Day 38 - She was a replacement for Sour Hound after SH popped and stalled. She has literally wowed me with her structure and vigor. She was not affected by my early nute mistake, so maybe thats why her vigor seems so fantastic to me. She is going to produce well I believe from the looks of her. And with Toof Decay and Sour Stomper as her parents she should be good meds as well. Glad I got a few extra of these before they were all sold out. If you didn't grab any of these, you may be kicking yourself when she is all done.

Stone Dragon - Day 55 - Day 10 after the pollination - she has a very unique smell I can't seem to put my finger on. I believe she is fully seeded, but I am hoping for a bud or two that I can use for meds. She is short, probably more a reflection of her 1 gallon airpot then genetics. She has been an easy grow. She is fully purple in her buds, and the male I use for pollination was purple as well as the most vigorous male, so maybe I got lucky and captured the purple gene for this group of seeds. We shall see...
