Mephisto Genetics Seymourbud's Soapbox

Gold Glue - Day 67 - This girl is the last one standing, and has required the least attention. This whole run has been basically on auto-pilot. Very little opportunity for me to screw things up. She is really fattening up. Her buds are certainly more solid then those of the GWK. And a whole 'nother level of arome. I get overripe fruit, bordering on rotten fruit. The only thing missing is the fruit fly's. I have pushed her pretty hard with nutes through flowering, and she hasn't blinked. I like her so much, I just purchased another 18 pack on BF for 45% off. I am thinking that I will have at least one of the following strains in every grow I do from now on: BTS, GG, SCrck, and SN (Purple pheno also). These 5 are basically small varieties, and good for sleeping ( SC is the exception for me as I do not believe it is a good nighttime med.). Now onto the pictures...

What size and brand pot is that sir? Im excited to run some GG- bought way too many seeds on the BF deal and I need to try and do more plants in smaller pots (running 5 gal smart pots now)

3 gallon equivalent airpot (off brand). I started with 5 gallon pots, and after a few runs with these I think I prefer this size better. I seem to be getting the same yield, with less soil used and they fit better in my environment. Grabbed a 6 pack of them on AM***N under the brand name MaXX Yield "Power Pot" . Haven't indulged yet in the GG, but all indications are I am going to love it. Again, what's not to love, BOG genetics, Grape Crinkle, and GG#4. Winna, winna, ... I am trying to find a good deal on some 1 gallon pots for project work I plan to do.

Good job, but I may suggest trying to actually transplant your seedling next time? I really don't understand the tiered thing people do around here. Transplanting isn't hard and your plants roots won't be rootbounded at all. A great alternative to the tiered technique is to use 5oz cups and transplant them quicker than you would in a Solo cup if you are concerned with your root system not being big enough to transplant. You will fill your 5oz cup quicker with roots and you can just plop the plant out upside-down...like making a sandcastle. I prefer to bottom feed them in cups to promote downward root growth. Another great method is to start your medium a couple days before you plant your seed. This allows time for it to dry our a little before you plant the seed. If you water around the outside of the pot, your roots will seek the moisture. The tiered technique traps roots and is actually completely unnecessary. That being said, I prepare my transplants to just plop out and into an awaiting hole. You can prepare the 3 gal pot and leave an empty cup in the middle of the pot so when you remove the cup...the plant will fit perfectly in the hole. I see so many people around here that opt not to transplant. Ask @lunarman how easy it is to tranplant, he was doing that whole tiered thing too for a while. Anyways, good luck. Just trying to help.

I haven't been following this thread so I don't understand all the background details but I definitely am a believer in transplanting and Slow an Easy obviously knows what he's talking about and has some great ideas that i find give results. However the pictures I just looked at from seymore were very IMPRESSIVE!!! Apologies for any typos above working off my mobile phone.

I just encourage a proper transplant vs not. Not trying to say anything negative.

Thanks @slowandeasy for the suggestion. I use two 16 ounce solo cup for my seedling. The inner one has no bottom, and 2 large "window" cut out the sides. I do start my soil a couple days before the transplant, and have an empty cup in the 3 gallon airpot the same size as the inner/outer cup I am using for the seedling. When transplanting, I remove the cup from the 3gallon airpot and place only the inner cup (with seedling) into the vacated spot in the 3 gallon airpot. Seems I do most of what you suggest except removing the seedling from the cup before transplanting. I will look at GWK roots and see if I can see any signs of rootbound using my process and if so, possibly give your method some thought. Thanks!

Good news, just received a package in the mail. Another set of 4 autocobs. These will be for my newly renovated 2nd cab, that will be used for seed projects or overflow. Still need to upgrade the ventilation, then I will be done. This all has to be done by the new year. I have some work to get done in the next few weeks.
