Self watering Tray2Grow experiment đź‘€

Beautiful, deep green and lush!!! Happy and healthy for sure! Is your plan no training at all aside from leaf tucking? Or will you start to defol after flowering starts and train what you can during stretch? Just curious, keep up the awesome work!

I just wanted to try no stress in veg so figure when the pre flower stretch is over I’ll do a pretty good defol for light and air flow. No training planned. Which again is new to me because I always tie down for a flat canopy and to open the inside. But mostly I didn’t want to widen the plants just in case they responded to the trays by growing larger than I’m used to, which they have. I’m hoping theyre more vertical than I’m used to. These trays are awesome! They’re worth the convenience alone but I’m convinced they’re healthier because they’re not relying on me to feed them nor eating on my schedule. The trays are the root of my new approaches because I figured if they’re always eating they can take more light which means the food should be stronger. For 2+ years I used my horrible tap water which had ec of.08 but followed full strength GH nute schedule. Turns out ive been feeding 2 to 2.2 ec to seedlings forever. So I thought I would try ro and keep the ec the same but without the unnecessary/toxic crap from the tap. Same calories more protein less sugar is the concept lol. I still think the test for the trays comes during flower though when it’s time for an additive or two. Probably just drain the res and leave the trays alone. It won’t take long for the new batch to hit the mat and mix in is what I’m hoping.

Day 35…they’re in pre flower stretch, back right plant is 40” tall from dirt. My 5x5 tent is starting to look like a 4x4 lol looking forward to some defol in about a week, I haven’t even seen the inside of these plants yet. I guess they dig the trays because I’ve never had this many roots pop out like this.

I’m bummed that the self topped plant is the Creme Tasmo because she’s a gorgeous purple plant. I’m almost finished with the last harvest so I was hoping for more than just a few nodes. That’s why I’ve stayed extra diligent on her leaf tucking, trying to get as much as possible out of her 3 nodes cuz she’s just so darn pretty.
