Indoor Seedstockers Candy Dawg Kush - DWC - Megacrop

Looking good so far!
I'm going to be using MC in a DWC next grow so I'm here to learn and cheer on. :smoking:

Yep, that's the button. So, are you recirculating water? It looks like that is pumping a circuit of water to aerate things instead of just an airstone/airpump. I though most people only ran an air pump with a stone in the bottom of the bucket. This looks like you are running a water pump and cycling it through the top of the reservoir. Just curious because I'd like to try it myself and I'd like to get it, eh, right-ish.

Do you run one of those clear tube "water level" tubes? I've seen both for and against. I think the attention needed for this type of setup wouldn't need it.
No I am really only using the most simple DWC setup there is.. (that button is only air-line tube, it goes down to the bottom of the bucket where the air stone is placed)
This is the system I have: https://growrillahydroponics.com/en...ystems/hydroponic-systems-growrilla/dwc-19-l/ (I replaced the air pump with a more powerful model and the airstone with one that's a little bit bigger)

So only a bucket, an air pump and air stone.. that's it!

The system does have a water level indicating tube, which is convenient to see the water level. :smoking:
When the plant is really big I use it to tap some liquid from the bucket to measure PH and such. (Right now I just lift the lid of the bucket with the plant in it. and dip the PH meter in the bucket water.)
A disadvantage of this system is that when the plants get really big it gets difficult to lift the lid(with plant) up and add water to the bucket. I currently solve this by moving the lid slightly ajar so there is room for a tube from a small water pump which I use to pump the water into the bucket. A small opening/lid at the top for this would be convenient I think.

Checked the PH, it's at 6.2 which is what I was aiming for yesterday, so perfect for now.
Checked the water level, I could add a liter to fill to 100% but I decided to do 2 liters tomorrow. (hopefully the PH has risen to ~6.3 tomorrow, and I can add 2 liters)

Plant seems to be doing well..

Looking really good and happy.
So 6.1-6.3 is what you keep the ph at? I'm trying to learn here i was thinking 5.7-6.2 or something was good :smoking:

As far as I know the PH range for hydroponics is between 5.5 and 6.5 .
During growth PH should be around 6.20 During flower it should be around 5.90, this has to do with specific nutrients for flower or growth being more easily available to the plant.

When the plant is bigger she will be taking more nutrients out of the water every day. Which will make the PH shift larger. In that situation I will probably adjust the PH lower .. like 5.5, which will give it time to go from 5.5 up to 6.5, when hopefully I will be adjusting it back down again..

With hydro the maximum range is 5.5 to 6.5 but IMPE If you run too close to the edge it can and will slip out of bounds. It does not take long to damage a plant with the PH out of range. So I use 5.7 to 6.2 as my range with the target at 5.8.

When the plant starts to flower in earnest, the roots will exude substances that are designed to stimulate P-K production by the root biome. These exudates will lower the PH in short order from 5.8 to <5.4 You need to be expecting it and buffer the PH back into proper range. This is your signal to give a P-K boost and start bloom nutrients.

Hey @Mañ'O'Green Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated! :worship:

So you always target 5.8? Also when she is not in flower yet? I thought some of the nutrients that were needed during the growth period were more available in the higher PH range.. I just checked, and the difference is probably negligible.

Very interesting about those exudates, I usually just replaced the contents of the bucket with fresh solution, which probably already contained that pk boost then. Nice to understand what happens better!

I think tonight I might be buffering back to 5.8! :d5:

Yes, I always use 5.8 as the target. It is easy to miss by a little which is not concerning as long as I am between 5.7 and 6.2.

Checked the PH, it was still at 6.2.

I added 1.5 liters @
- 1.2 grams of Mega Crop/liter
- 0.25 grams of CalMag pro/liter

Set the PH of the solution to 5.77

She is doing quit well, her internodal spacing could have been a little more perhaps.
I considered removing some of the bigger leaves to give the side shoots more light, but decided to keep leaf tucking for now.

Hopefully she will stretch a bit in the near future.

Thanks, implemented today :smokeit:
