Indoor Saving The Old Dragons

Very kewl! I’ll be interested to see how this turns out. I’m a sucker for purple. I’ve never had any of my own but I love how it looks. I thought about getting some Ninja Fruit seeds from Dojo/Oregon Elite. It produces the beautiful purple but $120us for 10 regular seeds is a bit steep for me right now. Hope your breeding turns out well and you get a good viable stock to preserve! Have you ever considered keeping a purple mother?

Thanks @DTOM420. Mother wise, if I could get the right plant I would definitely keep a purple mum. I'm always on the lookout for that perfect plant for me to keep. I've nearly had then a few times, and usually kill them at some stage.

Another week has gone, their first on 12/12. Not sure at all what total week it is.

Good news, the larger plant is definitely a female & has a little darker colour to it in parts. Bad news, I'm now fairly unsure about the seeded state of the females. I was pretty sure the other week, but now I have been able to look closer at them it's a bit dodgy. There's nothing I can do anyway, so I'll just have to treat them like they were.

A few pics then...

The older, smaller female. Starting to look very nice, if petite.

Closeup of the larger female bud site. You can just pickup the purple tinges with this crappy camera.

The last female.

There are two other plants in the pot, but one has not grown at all in weeks, while the other I still believe is not an auto. If either choose to proove me wrong, then I'll take some pics.

Updates for this week, and things have been happening.

One of the smallest plants started some weird growth, which I'm sure were male parts. It was doing nothing, and so has been plucked.

Then the second smallest started to pump out male bits. As I don't want to pollute my main crop, this also got pulled.

Check the small roots structure, but fitting for the size of plant I suppose.

This one in the pot, I'm pretty sure is not an auto. I think this is one of my unknown Jamaican seeds, which are in my 12/12 crop. This has survived for now, as I'm waiting to see if it's a female or not.

Now we have the females.

Lastly, a little vid from the tent.

Another week, and things are starting to cook now.

On the smallest plant there are definitely seeds, can't get any great shots of them, but big smiles anyway. Only issue is that she is not getting enough light, the other plants are now a jungle around her. I may need to repot, or at least raise it from the current position. The roots of the others have been fairly compact, so I may get away with disturbing her... ...nope, talked myself out of it. I'll raise for now, and see how its siblings react.

Some Pics then, mixed shots of the two females.

This week I've ID'd the third plant, to definitely be one of my 12/12 Jamaican seeds. Still waiting on that to show sex, but it is very very lanky, so I may not keep it anyway to re-grow.

This leaves two females, quite possibly seeded, but we're still a good few weeks out to messing with them too much. Some of the buds have been browning off a little, which is to be expected with the age. I always find Purps harder to gauge, but I'm waiting another 5 weeks anyway before thinking about pulling. The smaller one may be a bit sooner.

First plant, the smaller one.

And now the other.

Another week down. The larger plant is now starting to smell very nice. I forgot that the Dragons smelt different to most of my other plants, very spicy, almost liquorice. Still a long way to go. 4 - 5 weeks as I see currently.

The smaller one, may well come in earlier, but not by much. Very slow moving these oldies, but I've got the time to give them.

Last pic, and had to do the man thing - measure it. I thought it was bigger - lol.

More action and issues this week. Getting very cold where I am, and turning the plants leaves black. Stems getting very red, so going to have to do something. Was hoping it wouldn't get so cold so soon.

The final plant in the tub had finally shown to be a hermi, and was therefore pulled.

This leaves two females in the pot. I moved the little one a bit, while digging out the hermi. Should get better light coverage now. I've also put a couple of little spikes in to keep back the leaves of the larger plant, as the were blocking the little one. They better have some seeds in them, as both are in the prime spot.

The autos are loving their prime position. My Jamaican unknown plant now nearly takes up half the tent, turning into a beast.

You can see the red veins, and darkening leaves in this pic. The plants seem to be doing fine otherwise.

Nice thread! Sometimes you can pluck those early balls off a hermie and they will go on to be good female plants. You just need to keep a close eye on them.
