Can't you guys just burn the palm? That's what I'd do here in Oregon.

Sorry MrP I missed it...you have to have a License to burn over here..coz we are so arid I suppose..fire risk...so we shall probably haul it to the bins bit by bit if the farmer can't remove it with the tractor.

You really have your Sanctuary now M.

Cheers Grandma......I Think so too.

Now we'll really put the let food be your medicine theory to the Test huh...:coffee2:..coz I'm going to Need it to cope with the Work...

Good things never came easy. A bit of hard graft will make the outcome all the more satisfying.

I can feel for Mr Mossy, I would be very protective of your good self if it were me. I will settle for the cuddle. If that is OK. If you need me to fend off the advances of a certain Elvis, just shout.
He means well, but can be a bit forward if you know what I mean. Heck, if anyone is going to be the the foot masseur of those six toed beauties,
IT Will Be Mine....:xlaugh:

O eP the Elvis could never come between you and our queen! eimages.jpg

Nothing quite like trying to save a bunch of 8 foot plants from being crushed while wrangling a 8x6x7 greenhouse in your undies. I'm fairly certain the neighbor saw

the spirit of the sanctuary is alive and well! :dance2:

Coming along fantastically Mossy! :jump: :smokeit: :pass:

Meanwhile back at the Ranch...

The organic weed and feed machines were back.

There are a lot of them..maybe around 100-200..I tried Counting them as they went past the kitchen window...

But..I kept falling asleep.....:stight:

:Haha:

I heard them tell hubby it will probably take about 5 days to completely clear the big field and he has arranged for them to get in to do the paddock garden.

He was questioning them about getting agricultural water in..they say that the pipes in the field are all broken so the need dug out and replaced..which was exactly what we expected..I said hubby spotted them broken on the road side.

But...."pher Wiggle""pher Wiggle""pher Wiggle" ..another Red Letter day...They will do all that if we let them grow in our field....:Sharing One:..sounds Absolutely Perfect to Me.

We are going to check with the solicitor and get a simple contract drawn up..coz there are some quirky rules of possession here..so it will keep it right.

Hubby says as long as they pay the water they can use it for nothing...then I Thought..how about a Lamb as payment...once a year..for the BBQ..

Can't say fairer than that huh...?

Circle of Life.

And..we would Know it was Organic...:Medibles:..the second question will be can we buy one every time they have a cull.

About 1/3rd of the heard are goats..hubby likes goat..but I haven't had it...

Peteey..peteey..peteey...are you trying to kill your old Aunty...?....:coffee2:..I got one side dug in.
It isn't hardcore under the thin layer of gravel..but it might as well have been.

Feels like compacted clay..what a job...I didn't have the strength to complete it.
Hubby took the easy way out and went off to do other jobs..until the last 1/3rd..then he did all the back fill.

Raked up all but a thin layer of gravel inside the tunnel and used that to bed in the side too.

Got my Buddah in place..facing the first rays of the morning sun.
Hubby is going to cement him onto the column before I paint them.

Starting to feel like Home....:coffee2:..look at the colour of that sky....:Ohmmm.......:...

OBTW...when we went down this morning..on the south facing patio full sun was 4C..tunnel was 10C..
by lunch time patio was 10C..tunnel was 20C....

so it Works....

I'm busy cleaning out the conservatory for the plumber to get in tomorrow..so I'm dragging the pots with my patchouli..and tomato germs etc out to transfer down there into the tunnel....:dance2::dance2::dance2:

Jm check this out

ok nothing special I agree it's in the description that caught my attention

University research has also shown that the bright red color reflects a spectrum of light that triggers photosynthesis, adding to rapid growth. Each approx. 12" diam., 2 1/4"h. Reusable, made of heavy-duty plastic. 2-Pc. design for ease, with slots allowing for wire plant supports and water flow. Effective for peppers and eggplant, too.

Is there truth to that ? Should I be lining my grow tent with red reflective stuff ?

Chlorophyll uses red and blue light and the plant reflects mostly green light this is why most plants appear green to us.

Having a material that is highly reflective, such as white sheeting or with sheeting which has a shiny metallic coating such as Mylar will reflect light well. Mylar sheeting can have patterns embossed on to it which produces a more diffused light , in doing so it avoids hot spots.

Any objects which are red will absorb red light rather than reflect it, the red light needs to be reflected to some degree rather than be totally absorbed, as the red light is also used in conjunction with blue light for effective chlorophyll production of plant sugars.

It is true however that in veg stage a plant will use more blue light and in flower more red light, but it will still need some of each to grow well.

Around the equinoxes there is more red light in the suns spectrum due to the angle of the earth facing the sun.

So when seeds start germinate in the wild they are getting a higher percentage of red light when they sprout and start to photosynthesize, than they will on mid-summers day which it the apex of the blue light from the sun.

As the the mid-summers day gets closer every the light gets a little more blue light with each day and once mid-summers day has past the light will get progressively more red light again.

I my opinion it is best to provide a good reflective surface which reflects all spectrums of light and have a full spectrum light such as an LED, CDM or a LEP which you can also add or take away an HPS to create the various spectrums needed for each stage of growth or you can use a full spectrum LED with a selective switch, so you can choose the type of spectrum you prefer , rather than change your reflective materials colour.

CDM = Ceramic Discharge Metal Halide such as the the Dimlux series

MH sunpulse bulbs are also available in various spectrums, 3K Kelvin - flowering, 4K Kelvin - Seedlings & cutting and last week veg , 6.4K Kelvin - vegetation & 10K Kelvin - last week of flower, or as mentioned these lights can be added to your set up to fill in spectrums your light may lack.

LEP = Light Emitting Plasma such as the Gavita Pro is full spectrum light which at its inception was heavier on the blue side of the spectrum, although I think they have been working to create a bulb with more red in it.
