any chance the odd readings are the overnight ones when water temp drops.
I notice with my soil ph meter that water/soil temps affect the ph reading.

no dont think so... the ph meter is temperature compensated and the water temp was rising steadily from the indicated stream temp to about 54 deg F
It made me re-check my ph meter calibration though... and its spot on of course


since ph is really a reflection of ionic charge.. I'm wondering whats going on electriclaly in the water? Wish I had an HP Dual Gas Chromatagraph. I'd love to analyxe the actual raw elements in the water. I didn't log the Us and the TDS and PPM... I may re-run this experiment and log all to see if theres any change electriclaly that corresponds to the ph. I'm wondering maybe as water temps climb there some kind of reactin between elements in the water thats making the charge swing around... sort of like it reached a critical temp for a certain reaction to occur at a more efficient rate. Maybe I'm crazy too... lol

Thanks for posting the temps and explaining why... Any chance you could log them each morning and correspond it to the pics? or at least log it and then use the date taken to sort the corresponding pics later on?
It's sorta hard to remember from day to day and would be very difficult when this thread grows larger than "The Art of The Auto" did... and it WILL... NO DOUBT
