Hey folks, I did a search and couldn't find anything within the last two years that talked about this.

@pop22 @tobe - I saw you guys talking in a 2 year old thread, maybe you are interested in this subject.

I would like to obtain some ruderalis in hopes to cross it with some of my flowers and breed a few of my own autos.. I see seedsman and sensiseeds sell some. Not sure how dependable these are, looks like 50% autoflower outcome.

Does anyone else have experience on this?

Thanks
Karl

I send an email to the guys at Lindaseeds as I had some contacts with them after my last order. They came right back advising they sell the sensi seeds ruderalis version which is quite well priced. I might try this out. Any input, thoughts, suggestions are very welcome.

Hi Karl
The Ruderalis from sensi seeds is a cross of indica X Ruderalis not a pure Ruderalis. It's not easy to find pure Ruderalis seeds from a seedbank. A friend take some seeds back home from a hunting trip to Russia he offered me to do a repro and use them for breeding but I can do it not earlier than next year.

For breeding you can use every autoflower strain. I would recommend to look for a ibl and grow them first to see what you got.

What is your plan what do you want to breed.

Have a nice day

Hello Tobe! Thanks for the message. What is ibl? I'm planning on cross breeding the various stains that I have, at least the favorites.

I'm only on my second grow right now. I enjoyed the first (photo) and wanted to cross breed a little right away. Now on my second I'm growing a mix of autos and photos and really enjoy what I'm seeing.

Do I have a plan? Not really, I'm rolling with the punches, seeing what works. But this is a nice hobby that has many different aspects to enjoy. From the plants to the various technical things.

Thanks
Karl.

Ibl = in breed line

It's great to see people breeding their own seeds. Feel free to ask if you got any questions.

Do you got regular seeds , male/female?

Thanks for that. I have some regulars, some feminized, gotta find a male still and collect it's manlyness. My first grow was ghost train Haze, very potent stuff. I'm imagining grossing that with an autoflower. But really I'm just gonna play around, learn what I can in the process.

Have fun.

Thanks. Asap I get a male donor I'm going to be off to the races. Uhm.... I did buy those ruderalis seeds, thinking I can use that sorta as a base... Well, we shall see. Maybe for Christmas I'm gonna give all my friends a green bonsai tree :D

If you want to use rudi seeds by all means do, but it's just going to set you back years in your quest make your strain into an auto. It will take many generations to breed all of the undesirable rudi traits out.

Most modern autoflowers have essentially 0% ruderalis content. All the rudi donated was one particular trait. Once that trait was isolated, nobody needs to grow ruderalis to make autos.

I'd wager that most of the elite auto breeders today have never even seen a ruderalis plant in person.

You'd be better off selecting an existing auto that's similar to the strain you are trying to recreate as an auto. That way you can achieve your goal in 5-7 BX instead of 20+ generations it will take to purge all of the ruderalis.
