WOW good dam i was about to flip if i didn't see some Sexy rez today LOL We are over here watching vids and my friend said to get a few bags ready by pressing them flat without heat and without busting them thn stach them ontop of each other he said its called prepressing the bags ..then smash like five or so at once depending on how much is in the bag. Its suposed to give the best yield when do that way. SO are you hooked on Live rez or what? ou must try fresh flash frozen then pressed...OMG BOOM its speedy so be ready to clean the house lol

I was reading about that; doing the cold-press first to prep the packets. That's what I keep running into, when it squishes it's not evenly distributed (my doing, not the machines) and so when it's pressing down, I have corners of the packet that there is no material at all (and so oil is flowing into it, absorbing into instead of pushing out.)

I'm going to look up some videos on how some of these guys are building their packets too; I'll show you guys how I made mine and if you have suggestions hit me up and I'll try 'em out!

So are they taking the individual packets and stacking them on top (so a packet with a filter on top of a packet with a filter, etc) or is it literally smashed kief patties pressed on to smashed kief patties and just ONE filter? Actually I think I answered my own question now that I visualize that, I would think you'd want each individual packet in their own filter or they would burst out (which I also had a few do on me but didn't seem to make that much of a different in what squished out.)

I see guys take cold presses to the rosin sheets when they are done to fast-cool it; was wondering if a guy could buy a 12 inch by 12 inch set of ceramic tiles and FREEZE them instead (or marble, whatever would be flat and cool.) You could even get 6 inch tile or whatever in that case. We'll see; necessity is the mother of invention you know!

Sweet unit, I know I left that $3000 round here somewhere. I guess the live rosin would make up for it fast if one sold. Did it come with bags? press slow lol or pop goes the rosin. can we see the inside Hobbs?

No it didn't come with anything for pressing (no screens or anything.) I've been using 50 micron stainless screens (meant for rosin pressing according to the manufacturer) and coffee filters (I was told to used unbleached if I could, all I had was bleached so that's what you'll see in the initial pictures. $3k rosin press, can't afford unbleached coffee filters. Go figure. :hump: )

Yea im not sure but look around nd see what you should be getting back from each gram and then you will know if your process is solid..plus those Canadian dudes uses their own bags they are on the tube they call it ROSE IN you now the type lol But yea watch some vids and hunt down the right bags im sure they got the kinks out ..very least better idea on how to press it..to me looks like you need more in it at one time .whats the amount they recommend? The tighter the bag the more you will get out of the product .Plus with the stack get more steam and heat surface area ..press it close not full pressure then let it heat up some ..wait for edges to get wet then press.

Yeah I'm looking at some of the bags on the Rosin Tech site now, @briman is recommending some to me to try. The reason I haven't crammed more material in is because it's blowing out in the coffee filter (again, possibly just the way I'm making the packet.) I'll tinker with the press and see what I can do with it. Man we need to hang out sometime it sounds like

@DABaracuss in the house! :pass:How ya doin man? Looking good Hobbes! I use the 45u silk rosin tech pouches. I dont cram them full, but filled and flat, if you get my meaning, corner to corner. Coffee filters work, but to up your game, you do need some silk filter bags! I fill them with hash, flatten them, fold the top over on its self, press it, then pull it out and press it again. If there is a knob to speed up or slow down the ram, slow the ram down a bit. It will slowly press the product, melting it as it squishes, then full on squish and squish it a 2nd time. With the rosin micron screen bags, about 2 presses and all the good stuff is out. If you are getting really dark rosin, its impurities mixed in most times, but can also be a strain you are working with, but mostly impurities. Take the impurities out of the screen and spray them down with 99% iso in a small spray bottle and drop them in a tupperware container with a lid, let em soak for a bit, shake the container and pull them out and let them dry and reuse them! I have never had a blow out with a silk screen! We are looking for liquid golden sunshine/honey like colors, like in some of your photos. or like this...:headbang: Typically, 20-25% return is what most people are getting with hash, after they dial things in. 10-15% on flower pressing as well after a while of dialing things in. It is also strain dependent. Some will squish better than others!

I usually press in just straight parchment without using the filters, and I started using a couple of lids for narrow mouth bell jars and a singe ring along with a hand clamp as a prepress.

I press the parchment into the ring/lid, add my bud in, then fold the paper over and add another lid to press between. Makes nice little ready to go pucks for the press.

Get a little creative and you'll come up with something. Great review so far and great looking dabs!!!!
