Hey Gang,

First grow. First journal... I welcome all criticism - good & bad!

My friend hooked me up with a free pack of 5 Humboldt Seeds UK Cheese Autos and have tried to grow 2 of them outdoors, which hasn’t worked out too well with CT’s unpredictable weather... after researching relentlessly over the last month (especially here at AFN) I decided to take things into my own hands and bring the grow inside to the basement! Temps are between 75°- 80°F and 45-50% RH.

I invested in a more quality setup as I generally like to do my research and buy/invest in quality products the first time instead of buying a new one in a year or two.

With that being said - I’m running a 3x3 tent with an Aglex 2000w quad COB and a Cloudline T6 exhaust fan.

I have to be honest, though, I’m a bit worried my light is overkill and is going to be too strong... the seedlings are receiving about 800 umol/m2s (not sure if that’s PPFD or not) @ 30”. And at 24” it measures at 1241 umol/m2 with a 4x4 core coverage. I figured it was worth getting a light with more than enough intensity for flowering too (it has a VEG and BLOOM switch). I added an Exhale CO2 bag to help balance out the light intensity so the plants can actually use that amount of light.

Would love your guys’ thoughts!

Started germination on 7/23 using paper towel method, planted seeds in styrofoam cups (@Tyler_Durden88) on 7/25 and seedlings sprouted 7/26.

They’re in a seedling mix for now but will be transplanting them into 5gal AirPots (I already bought them before realizing 3 gal would suffice...) with Roots Organics Soilless - coco/perlite - once they’ve hit 2-3 nodes

hey @ColeyBudz and :welcome: to afn! :toke: me jus luv em when they're lil bebez  they may look lonely now, but be prepared to be unprepared soon enuff, haha  thoze 3 girlz in 5 gal potz will def be fillin up ur 3x3, and hell, may want you to move out as well, lol...soundz like a good setup u've got goin, and as far as the light issue, i jus got through dealin with the "too much light" thing meself in a slightly smaller space with a 1000w full white led & had to downgrade to a more old school setup...in a nutshell, if u can put a dimmer on that thing, ur gonna need it ;)

anyhoo, me subbed up & followin along :pop: any time u need help or have a ques, jus give a holler & there'll alwayz be sumbody here to chime in

ppp & :goodluck:

:420: :smiley1:

If you decide to make a change down the road, my mantra has always been "two lights of less wattage for a much better light spread".

I appreciate the feedback @420Forever @AutoWonders

At this point, any tips/advice is a huge help.

I feel like since I just started, I might as well get the right set up now rather than later.... any suggestions on ranges for light intensity in seedling/veg/flowering?

Thanks again!

the right set up now rather than later

hey bro, u don't know it now, but it'z a constantly changing affair, lol...alwayz "more of this", "less of that", etc etc  but, the best & most important part of it all is -> it'z F U N!! it'z also an ongoing learning experience, whether u've got one grow under ur belt, or a hundred ;) the main thing is just that, to learn...there'z lotza trial & error involved, but hey, as tempting as it is, lol, don't overthink! ;) just KISS, and trust me, the plantz themselvez will tell u everything u need to know...it'z all about learning how to listen to them  ppp

Glad to hear your on your way. Make sure you poke some holes in the bottom for drainage and big enough to where you can see when the roots reach the bottom. I started using Styrofoam cups years ago when I ran out of my plastic seedling pots and had a empty cup of soup on the shelf from earlier and decided to use it. And then after seeing how easy it was to cut away with a razor blade and how it didn't disturb the roots what so ever i started using them constantly. Cheap disposable and super simple to transplant.
As for tips for new growers I'd say less is sometimes more. Your gonna fret over the tiny details. That's normal. With time you will get a rythem and get your methods dialed in. Don't over water and be carfull not to stress them with to much light.

Although my light’s name says 2000w it only pulls 408w... and PPFD value is 700-800 at 30”. Do you think that’s too much light? What intensity ranges would you recommend for each stage?

Thanks again!

wow! :yoinks: tbh, me dunno ppfd valuez from a hole in the ground & basically jus go by total lux, but me got a bad feelin here... :rolleyes1: ppp
