its getting interesting, trying to make reccomendations. I guess we now need a qaulifier, what's your goal? Max production or just looking for top quality bud and weight of harvest just a bonus? But for a range in a 4'x4' tent its looking like as little as 200 watts of COB lighting up to maybe 600 watts, without using CO2. My QB light, which is just another form of COB tech, is pulling 363 watts at the wall, including the driver. I'm hoping we can start getting people to look at PPF and PPFD numbers rather than watts. Why? My old Mars Hydro "300" watt pulled 180 at the wall. but it put out only 1/3 the light my pair of Autocobs do! 22% efficiency vs 47-49% for the cobs. so watts are meaning
Photon Flux Density, or PPFD, which measures the light that actually arrives at the plant. This measurement is expressed by scientists and light engineers as: μmol/m2/s.

The Mars light's output in ppfd is 98ppfd. Autocobs put out 220ppfd ( ~umoles @24") PER cob!
People are beggining to see 2 grams per watt and more as they gain experience in using this tech I'm hoping my QB light at 350 watts will give me a pound of top qaulity bud, as I am expecting to to do at least that. And I'm grown under COB for a while now, and the bud is amazing! Trichrome coverage needs to be seen to be believed!
POP22 You are becoming a guru in the led field keep up the great work

My DWC rez is causing me fits. the pH does not want to settle in. And the amounts I normally would use yo drop 1 point for example, are not working. I calibrated my pen, and checked its readings against a liquid indicator. This is getting frustrating. I dumped the rez and started over, and I'm only adding one cupful at a time of Earth Juice Double Down, and it looks good. I come back in an hour and it's back up.... WTF!
Do dirt .

When running LED you want a minimum temp of 82 degrees. The hps it is 75 to 78 degrees. Make sure to keep the ambient temps up for best results with LED

I hadn't heard this before. Why do you suppose the difference? I keep my room from 75-80 as much as I can.

Don't worry @guerillagrower#65 your plants look great and will be just fine. The new AutoCob isn't your daddy's old car. It's a super version of light that produces less heat and is by far more efficient. Less cost to run and more light for energy used. I run four in a 3 x 4. Just checked the temps a minute ago. They are perfect.
Being my first grow I'm not fussed about cost of power ,I'm just happy not paying £300a week for an oz....I'm running a cooltube so heats not an issue for me ,I have 6ftx1.5 ,ft length and width by 7 ft high partitioned cupboard accessed thru a hatch as stealth is the name of the game lol.....good to know they are healthy though ....might not break any records but anything free is welcome [emoji111] [emoji1]

The led does not emit as much heat so you have to raise the heat abit for better nutrient uptake and better over all growth

Oh, you are saying where to keep a thermostat then, not what temp the room should be. Got it.

Morning friendos. How's everyone today?

What's the topic of discussion? I see some mention of new grows, LED, autocobs? Just bought a couple for myself & can't wait til they arrive!

Wow it's hard to keep up!
@BigSm0 has the perfect light in my opinion. It is well made, the engineering and components are top notch. The sizing is also great; being able to add remove and adjust is just too perfect. @pop22 I totally agree with you. Wattage is not the proper way to discuss these things. Real usable units of measure as you stated are the only true comparisons. The proof is in the putting (or is that pudding, mmm love pudding) though so without getting too technical the way that @BigSm0 is doing with his grow of x amount of plants in a common size tent with x amount of his lights give folks a good idea what to expect. Certainly does make for simpler.

The old tech works, its just not worth investing in anymore. Right now, you'll still spend more up front, but the savingsin power and consumables that arew no longer needed is a secondary benefit. If you can pull 1gpw with HPS your near the top of your game. A newb who does things basically right with modern COBs for lighting is going to see 1.25gpw easily. It looks like Big Smo may it a pound or more with just 4 cobs running at a total of 220 watts! That over 2gpw!

This makes me feel prehistoric using 2sticks rubbed together to kick start my 600watt HPS ,its my first grow so it is what it isbut it is working
