Red Spider Mites

My tank is up and running again. Do I still have the spider mites? Only time will tell. It has been strange having nothing growing at my place for a month while I dealt with the problem. Oh well. I sprayed a whold can of Raid Spider Killer in the rooms. Wow what a lot of pyretharines gave me that numb mouth pins and needles feeling like then you bath your dog with flea shampoo. Washed down the tank and room with bleach. Rinced the tank out. I hung one of those Ortho pest strips over my tank. I have started a bunch of seeds to try for a new grow. I sure hope I have beat of the speder mites. Wish me luck.

the best thing out there for mites that i've found is..... AZAMAX..... use it as a preventitive measure if you've just had an infestation. using a sprayer, mix 10ml/per quart, repeat in 4 days, again in 10 days, can be sprayed day of harvest. completely organic. make sure to saturate till dripping, paying special attention to the undersides of your leaves. if you're soiless....consider dipping container and plant completely in a tote/tupperware storage container filled with your mixture of ph'd water and AZAMAX. it's not too costly either when compared to products such as "ladybug" and others. not harmful like "organocide". i'm speaking from mine, and a couple of fellow growers i know experiences.

It has pyretharines and that sure kills a lot of crawlies. I don't like being around the stuff. These other insect strips might have some other effective agent in them. I will go out of my way to order them if I see any trace of affids returning to my plants. I sure wish I didn't have to go through the ordering process it is always such a pain in the ass to me. My local grow supplier other than the hardware store carries nothing in hang up products. Do you order in hang up strips?

There is some dangerous advice being given here. Please do some research before using chemicals that are not approved for indoor, or food. I use Einstein neem oil...every three days for two weeks to rid myself of borg.

I tried neem oil and insecticidal soap and had no luck with either product. The pest strips are meant to be hung in houses. Insecticides are not much fun to use abound the house I totally agree but what can I do I want my grow room back and operational and nothing else worked. The red version of the mites are very hard to kill and get rid of.

I used to live in the woods and had some similar problems. Using grow tents was not an option as I was using the entire 1000sq ft area. I had to exchange a lot of air and heat so putting any resistance (filters) in the heat exchange system was not something I felt confident about. I contacted the Ag department at the state collage to see if they could recommend specific predators and they did but it just was not a realistic solution for the scale of the operation. I was left with having to seal the grow area from the rest of the house after removing and cleaning all the equipment with bleach and alcohol and bombing room and equipment after setting up again....bummer. You may be able to introduce a natural predator(s) to better affect in a room your size.

Oh I hape I don't have to go there but who knows. I put a filter on my incoming air to try and block them from coming in that way. Someone else suggested that I may be bringing them in on my feet and I should change shoes and keep a pair on slip ons for use in the grow room. Life used to be so easy without them. What a total drag.

What are the active ingrediantes in it. Even Pyretharine is a natural ingrediante as I believe it comes from cresanthanums 8however you spell it). Thanks for the tip everyone trying to help me is very appreciated.

Anything with spinosad as the main ingredient will be good. It's organic and it says spider mites right on the bottle Anything that kills the borg and says good for veggies is ok with me.

I use Azamax as well and it works good
