Red Spider Mites

Thanks a lot for the info. If what I am doing doesn't do it for me, I am going to order a couple of these products.

I use Azamax as well and it works good

Well the good news is it is the middle of Febuary and they haven't come back. I just opened a new Ortho hanging insect strip which is mostly Dichliorvos. I hope I am not poisoning myself or others who smoke my pot. Oh well as Wiz says "what can you do when you are fighting the borg". Stay away you bad red spider mites we all hate you.

Hey Nelson, I've only just found this thread so I hope my advice is good if you need it but I hope you don't!
I had a bad infection in my greenhouse and the EU have been cutting hard back on chemicals that amateurs can use, so there is almost nothing on the market (here) that is effective that is chemical based because it's all been around for years and like most pests that have a quick life/breeding cycle resistance builds up very quickly to whatever you use, especially if you only use one type of insecticide, I'm afraid to say that you will probably get re-occurence of resistant mites sooner or later.

The pest thing that you can use are biological pest controls, they work and they work well, the down side is that you have to have some level of infestation first because they need something to feed on so that they can breed and they won't multiply below certain temperatures (not that that would be a problem in a growroom) some times repeat applications are needed but again that is usually down to temperature drop or because they are so successful they run out of prey and die out!
I have used them and heartily recommend them (I'm presuming they're available in your neck of the woods) and can be delivered to your door through internet mail order, they are more expensive than chemicals but there is obviously no concerns with toxic chemicals on your herb and considering the value of your grow the price pales in to insignificance.
Hope this helps.
Jim

hey nelson... lady bugs...
http://gardeningzone.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=121

as preventative for future.... spinosad works absolutley wonderful for al kinds of stuff... only organic thing i found effectve for potatoe beetles... which are now resistant to damn near everything.

also... you should know... neem oil work by preventing them from reproducing... so it takes several weeks usually to show its effects. and it works better combined with Dr. Bronners Insecticidal soap (Peppermint reccomended)

and pyrethrins, while pretty good for most... prob wont work on mites... also if you have cats be aware... pyrethrins are highly toxic to cats.

Hey Dopey it is probably interesting stuff but without the thread I on't know what you are on about.

When I had em last I went through Insecticidal soap, alcohol, Neem oi. and pyretherine. Nothing killed em. Like Wiz said they are the borg. This Ortho stuff that used to be called Vapona and is that I hear to be nerve gas seems to kill em. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am a little confused about lady bugs. I have something that looks like lady bugs that a friend of mine says are not lady bugs but a type of Japanese Beetle that the Japanese call stink bugs. They do stink when you pick them up. Does this make any sence? I never know for sure when people say things that are beyond my scope of dubvious expertise.

like i said.... lady bugs are great... cuz they stick around akeep feeding on em and reproducing... self-checking the pplutaion... indeed... they are BORG

Nelson..flying past..nearly 12 midnight..so I'll turn back into a Pumpkin..
But..
Love your Stink Bugs Bro..I Do..they are Voracious predators...Lady Bugs with Attitude...:wiz:

makes some sense to me... i am not keen on stinkbugs as we have an ever increasing problem here with BMSB (Brown Marmerated Stink Bug)

but that link i left you... you can get 1500 LB's for pretty cheap.
