i just received a 6 inch cool tube and have realised i bought a 4 inch fan before my first grow, it was for something tiny so worked fine but always thought i got a 6 inch one. it was only 110 cfm max and a bit noisy so ill buy a new one.

whats the best quiet fan out there thats not ridiculously expensive, and also good carbon filter to go with it. i will be using these in a 3'x3'x6' tent witha 600watt hps.

also for now will a 4-6" converter make this usable or would it not be able to handle the heat intent?
cheers

I'll only ever recommend Rhino filters and Ruck fans because in my experience any other filter isn't anywhere near as good. That's not to say they don't exist (maybe the Phat filters), but the Rhinos are trusted by most indoor growers and mine are still going strong after 18 months.

:peace:

quiet operation

cheers for all the info having a look through now, ill probably sort out the four inch with a reducer for now and buy a 6 inch with a new filter as the old one wasnt perfect either but good to know theres no rush anyway.
i think i read that rhino became phat for some copyright reason but that might be mixed up.

can anyone vouch for quietness?
silence would be great but im sure thats near impossible. i have my own house but sometimes have guests etc and i dont tell anyone so itd be nice to have this as incognito as possible.

i will be purchasing insulated ducting and read that if you get 6 inch and cover it in 8 inch insulated duct that its very quiet but im sure the motor still has its own impact

so what have people used that would be silent behind a closed door or similar(or as close as possible)
if a 4 inch would work and be quiet cooling the 600watts thats grand too any suggestion welcome.

cheers

Sometimes it's the vibration more than the noise of the fan itself. I have mine mounted with some rubber between the mounting bracket and the wall. Helps greatly to reduce the vibrations that are transmitted to the wall.

I am in the process of getting a carbon filter that actually works not sure what brand to go with. This helps thanks.

Cool. I was wondering about these Phat filters, but hey if Muddy uses them I'm down. Hey Muddy, I am right here at buy point on my gear. Starting to think I should just get an actual inline fan instead of the bathroom AirKing fan. It's only $60+/- compared to $33+/- for the bathroom fan. I'll take any suggestions, although I think I know what to do.

i got the reducers and one problem that may be the norm but they dont overlap atall they are the exact same size. i thought one would cover the other.. anyway i got some heat resistant aluminium tape would this be ok as a permanant seal between the reducer and cooltube? or am i missing something. some joint i should have got etc.
