I have setup up a rudimentary system for the 16oz grow. First time ever to try this or anything else other than promix. I have been using GH Flora Nutes with distilled water. There is an airstone in the bucket bubbling water constantly and perlite in the smart pot. The tube running up to the pot is on a constant drip that bleeds through the perlite and back in to the tank.

My question is, I have been running this for 3 weeks now and changing the reservoir out every week. I can't keep the ph down in the res no matter what I do. The plant growth seems fine, the leaves are very nice and green. But, I ph the res down to 5.8 leave it overnight an check it the next day and it is up to 6.8. I left it two days and it goes up to 7.4. I have an AC in the room, the temps are 75F consistant and RH is ~60. This is during veg of course. Any ideas what I can do to keep the ph in a decent range? Is this normal for the water to need constant ph changes?

Thanks in advance.

If there's a plant growing in there, it'd make sense...pH drifts up during veg growth and drifts down during flowering/bud production. If it's that quickly, I'd assess where your PPM are...distilled water will need a good shot of minerals to hold a steady pH, methinks.

There is a plant, this is what she looked like a few days ago. Really I am quite pleased with the growth and amazed that the ph being that high hasn't affected her more.

It just sounds exactly like my experience with my first Gen Hydro waterfarm...I was using their 3 part in a recirc system, it just kept going up! I ended up checking pH twice daily and buying an RO...once I was using RO water and the Lucas ratios w/added epsoms, I stopped having pH problems. That or the AN self-correcting system, but I don't like their price considering I get all the results I want out of the cheaper GH line. Sorry I can't offer more help, I'm not really a reservoir guy, more of a hand-fed-coco style of hydro guy ;-) Plant looks healthy though, so maybe I should shut my mouth since we're both in the grow comp against each other :twist:

a420er. Unique set up. Wonder if adding cal-mag first then ph'ing will buffer before you add and ph nutes.

Another thought. How about silicon as an up when needed.

But, it looks like hydro solutions, over time, always wants to go up rather than down.
