So I'm germinating seeds straight into soil. and as they were sprouting up i noticed the seed shell were sticking to them but were loose. so i pulled them off and i think i stressed them out a little because they haven't done anything since i did it. I'm thinking tomorrow they'll be fine but i should of just left it alone. will they survive.

I did this to my lowryders back in the day and everything turned out just fine...So i wouldn't worry too much...unless they look premature

They should be fine. I always "carefully" remove mine if they don't fall off on their own, with no problems.

ive noticed that none of my photo seedlings thus far have had this problem and yet ive lost a few autos this go around to the seed coat being stuck on. id definetley pull it off very carefully. spraying it with water seems to loosen things up as well before removing it.

yeah i pull mine off too, if i have too.

BTW zx12r, your avatar is rockin man!

Hey just one thing, sometimes there is a "skin" on the leaves & once the shell has been removed the skin stays & drys on those leaves not allowing them to open. Just a heads up, it can be hard to see.

Yea that's is a budiful plant zx12r...!

is that why there having a hard time opening up like the first few did? I took noobs advice. I already took the shells off but they did seem to have a problem opening so i gave them a little each a few drops on top of the leafs and half coverd them up so not to get direct light until the morning. Then i'll uncover them all to let them do what they can.

I do that, too, with loads of seedlings as they sprout. The shell stays on when some are 2-3 inches tall and you can see the first true leaves forming in there. I just gently knock off that shell, and often times that skin stays stuck, so I either take a razor to slit up the middle (not down) or water the top and try to roll off the skin with my fingers.

I've run into the same issues, especially with seeds I've made. I keep a pair of tweezers handy and will gently remove the seed shells with them. If the seed leaves are stuck together I gently squeeze them from the sides with the tweezers. When the are ready they will usually just pop open. I don't force them, just some gentle pressure. Just did that to two seedlings this morning and they are already opening us nicely.
