Hey guys, new to the forums and not much experience in the garden. I'm starting my first indoor grow very soon and have already constructed and prepared nearly my entire set up.
I'm growing in a 32"x32"x63" tent that I'm placing in an old, abandoned shed. (stealthy location)
I'm a little concerned with the heat issues since the shed is located outside and I live in south florida.
The shed can get quite hot (last time I measured, about 90F without the equipment working.
I'm working on installing an intake and exhaust vent in the shed, but with my type of climate, am I just setting myself up for failure?

Any comments, suggestions or feedback is appreciated.
:toke::toke::toke: for now.

EDIT:
I built a portable air cooling unit to cool down the hot air in the shed. Installing it and beginning to note temperature changes tomorrow.

I honestly think that's too hot, especially with this being your first grow. If you could bring that tent inside and set it up you're way more likely to have success. Could you by chance tell us your ventilation and lighting set up? The more info you give us, no matter the small detail, the better we can help. The other thing I would worry about in a shed is pest. Before I check my grow in the morning I take a shower and put on clean clothes. You'd be amazed at how they find a way in.

Anyway, welcome to the site BJ! Glad you decided to grow with us :D .....Oh yeah, what strain are you growing and in what medium? Nutes?

Having the tent inside of the house is impossible with my situation as I don't have a proper place to put it and a lot of guests that stop by. The last thing I want is somebody suspecting anything .
As for the tent:
I am running a 400w HPS w/ an air cooled hood reflector.
I have 3 mini clip-on fans to help circulate air around the tent.
I plan on running my ventilation as such:
air---> reflector---> out of the tent (in the shed) to carbon filter.
I also plan on strapping the carbon filter to the ceiling of the shed and installing an exhaust fan (in the shed) so it can breathe a bit.

EDIT: the shed is not so big, 4'x4'x7'. thought I should mention I don't have a monumental amount of room to work with.

I can get my temperatures to drop a few degrees (to about 87F, 88F) but that's with no way for the heat build up in the shed to escape.

Will check out those links, too.
Thanks a lot :)

Without a/c you are just wasting your time man. 90f ambient temps is to hot for most strains. You put that light in there you will easily be above 100.

I agree, without air conditioning your chances of success are very slim. The ideal temperature for growing weed is 80 degree. Above 85 you start running into heat issues. HPS light give off a lot of heat themselves and will probably raise the ambient temperature by at least 10 degrees. If you're bringing in outside air that is 90 +, even the best ventilation won't bring the temps down enough. I've seen small, 5,000 btu A/C units at WalMart for about $100. I think something like that is your only option for your shed.

Yeah, I'm actually considering purchasing one. Really wish I had some room in the house to just put it in a corner and let it run =/

Will update this thread as I stumble across possible solutions...
