I'm currently on my first grow and facing strange issues with ph rising up really fast. I'm new to the grow scene but already know something, but can't find explanation to this.
Environment is : Growtent 120-180-90, 21-27 C°,res 25l / 18-22C°,RH 40-55%. Nuts - canna aqua vega a/b + ryzotonic + cannazym + silica + cal/mag = 550ppm. (they are still to small to get more :) / +-1.5week )
When I mix my nutes I get something like 5.9-6.5 ph and afterwards I change it to 5.7-5.9 but then after 4-12h it rise to 6.5-7.5. I'm using RO water. I have road some forums and they say it can be because of air, but still not so fast
Some help will be appreciated as I'm tired of adjusting it everyday.....:help:
I'm growing in DWC. You can find my setup here --->

Hey, komach.

I'm not a hydro grower but logically it seems to me that the likeliest possibles are:

1) The ph adjuster you're using is not stable (incidentally what ph adjuster are you using? Anything like vinegar etc is unstable)
2) You're not waiting long enough to measure before adjusting and re-adjusting and getting the solution to settle at a stable ph
3) The plant is using the nutes faster than you think and that's causing the res solution phto rise (what's your ec, are you checking that as you check your ph as one relates to the other?)

Off the top of my head I can't think why else that sudden rise would happen. It could have been explained by chlorine ofgassing but you use RO water so the only other thing that makes any sense to me is that the nutrient ions are having an affect or the ph adjuster is unstable.

Hope that gets you a step closer fella.

:peace:

I'm using HY-PRO PH-. Solution is boiling with bubbles and turns so many times per minute that I don't think I need to wait much, but still even after one night it is rising and keeps rising... The whole adjusting process take me 1-2h as I add a little then wait and like this till I get what I need. Don't want to screw up my res thats why it take me so long to adjust. My plant just can't take much of nuts they are to small almost 2 weeks from seeds. I have same situation in both buckets....Still thanks for your reply
:( Hope someone can help me as can't find answer nowhere

Hi,

I grow in dwc. I use tap water sat out for 24ish hours to let the chlorine dissipate.

When I add my nutes then adjust ph, if I'm aiming for 6 then I'll ph to 5.6-5.7 then when I chuck it in the rez it usually rises to about what I want, 6.
Why don't you try tap water see if it makes a diff. Plus you'll get some added minerals to boot.

I know this hasn't answered you Q but it's all I can think of.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply,
Tap water is to bad here where I live, something like 680ppm. Minerals are not a problem, made a good investments, have now really all what my plants need :). I think I found what the problem was, actually by trying to fix something else, still need some tests to be sure.

Nice one glad you got it sorted. What do you think it was out of curiosity?

Good luck with the rest of your grow

Now I know it exactly and it is more than one thing,
My ph tester does not have auto temp compensation one it give me rise in ph 0.1-0.3 when my res temp is rising. And my solution is canna aqua and it takes 2-3 days to stabilize it gives me drift in 0.3-1ph. And the biggest ph riser is my f... :finger: air-pump that I hate already from the first day I bought it, apparently 85l/m is to much for 2 buckets of 30l and it give me ph rise of 1-3 and ripping roots.
Solution is quite simple will get new ph meter + will premix my solution to 5.2-5.4 and give it 1 or 2 days + lowered pressure by piercing a couple of holes in air pipes.
BTW do you have this behavior of air, does it rip some roots in your res? Is it normal?

I have no direct experience with hydroponics man, but I have always heard that 'the more bubbles the better'. Never heard of it ripping the damn roots, that's nuts. Someone more knowledgeable will hopefully swing through and help you out more soon.
