PH Coco coir

Ok, that’s 40 gals of ph 5.1-5.7 Calmag to 170ppm water ran through 2 autopots over 12 hours and the run off PH will not change from 6.6ph And 195-205ppm always no matter what ph value going in that I have used. So this is costing me alot of time and money, fantastic learning experience forsure, invaluable really but enough is enough…
I buy canna professional coco and pot up directly out of the bag what brand is yours or is it just bricks

Hi @St. Tom and thanks for dropping by. Using Cyco platinum coco coir brick. Pre buffered and ph balanced 5.5 to 6.5
now if that was pre buffered I just pot up and go for it I never prepare any coco as pretty soon I will be feeding the pot to run off anyway before I put them on the res but I forgot you need to add water to the bricks as I've never used that

Wow, your problem is quite strange after so much flushing . I've just started using the Cyco Pearl coco. It is definitely prebuffered. I usually only have to run a little bit of volume to get runoff ppm/pH in range.

Typically see 500ppm and 6.5pH right out of the bag. In a 1.5 gal pot I ran three gallons of 300ppm 5.8-6.0pH through in batches to test the runoff. I have been stopping when the runoff is in the 350ppm range. I did see pH staying at 6.2-6.3 but after a couple weeks of fertigation to runoff it drops into the nice range.

Hi and thanks for checking out my issue. I am pulling the coco grow, I have a few bags of Roots organic original soil that I’m going to use, let’s see how that goes…

All good and tested/calibratEd weakly…

Just wondering... what pH meter are you using? I used to have cheap pH meters and they would calibrate perfectly, but once i needed to measure something other than calibration fluid, they would just not give me the correct pH.

And by the way... have you tried a slurry test? Runoff pH of coco can be deceiving.

don't be put off coco its quite forgiving and I've grown in every size containers from solo cups to 2-litre bottles to autopots and airpots anyhow whatever you choose keep us posted

If you do go soil, I would add extra perlite to increase aeration, ie happy roots! :peace: :pass:
