Fast Buds Perpetual Beast Grow (fast version)

hi bro i dont know how I've not found your thread before so i thought i would pop in and say hello i generally run a fastbuds strain each run so I'm a big fan i saw your super cropping earlier in your thread so I'm going to have a good read right through later on

Cheers bro.

So the girls looked a bit stressed after their haircuts and droopiness with crinkling of leaves happening - so I give em a sneeky 2ml Oldtimer - which I use like a tonic for stress/pH fluctuation events. Has done the trick - though the plants may have just been hungry! But they're looking much better.

So the GSC has reached the stage where my plants generally don't put on any more bud. The Jack Herer has had the most time being exposed to high and very high pH events. I think in high pH events micro nutrients (metal salts I think) are made solids and are expelled from the water/substrate. In very high pH events quite vigorous chemical reactions take place and loads of 'stuff' is booted right out of the pot - leaving very unattractive brown residue. My plants are heavy weight leaf and stem producers with big fat stocks - it's bud formation and growth that I have the most problems with. Maybe I could 'buffer' the pot like you might do with unwashed coco - give the pots a flush of Epsom salts or something. I'm not sure that even pH downing with acids doesn't adversely affect the substrate - assuming it is metal salts ( reactive metal - magnesium for instance) that are being problematic. I'm getting a water butt and a semi decent pH pen next pocket money day! Im going coco to reduce variables I find the idea of growing in an inert media extremely appealing right now. All three of those plants have lived with a period of me ignoring pH and as they went in at 3 week intervals they may produce better as they have had longer in a better environment. And my next girl will have her whole life in pH decent Lightmix - she'll be my last in soil for a bit, whilst I learn about nutrient mobility + pH and coco - I'm fairly optimistic.

I boiled the tap water to examine ds.

Skinny GSC buds at the end of week8.

Skinny JH 11 weeks old tomorrow.

Used Andrews Salts to make a pH down - it makes a very acidic solution of carbonic and citrus acid - with mainly Mg sulfate. I'm blindly giving it a go just in case I've stumbled upon a tool to use after high pH events that not only pH downs but sticks in a bit of Mg. I used the local river water its pH 7.5 and much better than the stuff out my tap. Here's a pic of the girls after the Andrews and I'll put another up later to see if I turned my plants into a droopy mess!

Holy crap - it worked! Will mess about later and knock up a pH down from it, see how it does. Doing pot prep for Mimosa Cake, (Mimosa - Changa?). Dutch pro administered at 2/3/4 x1L totally works in Lightmix, New Horizon, - I have used more of the Take Root + Multitotal in my mates pots than mine. Knowing about these 2products is absolute gold from Autobeast! I use 4ml of each in 2L of water in 12L pots as a one off treatment until first feed. This next plant will be my first where I pH control everything, which we can judge against the earlier skinny bud attempt.

Still looking good in there. Am feeding GSC every third day - (1Lx2ml bloom + 1ml overdrive) it's a good size for very low nutrient value substrate coupled with Fb's very modest feed schedule - impressive. I'm giving little Jack Megacrop from tomorrow to learn how to use it for when I go total coco - I'll be using Megacrop on the new plant as well. I don't think this pen is accurate, it's over a week 'til pocket money day so I'll use litmus paper and the pen until then. I was thinking there are a variety of acids you could use for pH down - I'm gonna look at making one for tap water - Andrews salts gives the basic acid (citric) and it's main ingredient is Mg sulfate - nice, and add to that Ascorbic acid which is good for neutralising chlorine (says Science). Though the point of switching to coco and learning about pH and water, tds etc. is to avoid issues by competent application of food and technique. Lol!

Andrews makes a very weak diluted pH down - so you can get a lot of Mg sulfate ( or not, I don't know) in whatever liquid you're treating. Though I might use it for bang on pH correction - 2heaped teaspoons per litre.

So I got a blog post from Fb detailing overfeeding - and had a look at the small JH which after 2L of 5.97 water poured through the run off was 6.34 - cool, this plants been grown a la Autobeast and has big feeds twice a week. The GSC after 2L of ph'd water the run off was over 7 - it took 8L before I had the pH down to 6.2 also before I read the instructions telling this must happen over a coupla days. Arse! Certainly makes coco more appealing - daily replenishing and flush.
