Dutch Passion Ortega Indica and CBD Kush SCROG under a GN Rebel

Day 84/52

I ran into some trouble, I found out I have a thrips infestation. I saw some spots on the leaves that I couldn't identify. At first I thought it was some kind of mold but later on I realised it was thrips damage. I also managed to snap a picture of one of them (see below). I was actually relieved to see that it was from thrips and not mold as then I at least know that whatever I harvest will be safe to use. I lightly sprayed them with neem oil trying to avoid spraying the buds directly and I also sprayed the top soil. I don't expect to erradicate them at this point as I don't want to drench the plants but I'm hoping to keep the population in check so that they won't have enough time to destroy my plants before harvest. I might spray them once more during the week and then they'll just have to fend for themselves until harvest, which is probably around 3 weeks away. I don't think there's much else I can do at this point, any hints would be appreciated though as this is my first time dealing with pests.

Other than that they seem to be doing quite well. I started reducing the nutes so I'm down to 2/5 bloom nutes and 4/5 PK. I will keep feeding them this week and then I might start the flush depending on what it looks like. The CBD plants are looking quite mature already.

This is the worst affected bud. I really hate seeing what they did to my pretty plants :cuss:

I managed to snap a picture of this little bastard before it went into hiding under the leaf.

Those fookers got you good alright man. But besides that this is your best grow by fat. Really really beautiful man.

Thanks mate, nice to see you around again! The spraying with neem oil didn't really make a difference, they're chewing their way through the plants. Luckily, they don't seem to like the leaves under direct light as much as the ones in the shade. Harvest should be a bit more than 2 weeks away so hopefully they will survive that long.

Yeah I hate those little ass turds! Your right though, could have been sooo much worse. Nicely down on the scrog. I'll have to catch up on this one. I have a couple of those beans I've been waiting to sprout.

Oh yeah..

have you tried ECOSMART. it contains peppermint and rosemary oil and worked well for me on spider mites. adding a UVB bulb may also help. those little critters don't seem to like UVB. just my 2 cents worth

Thanks mate and thanks for the rep! You should definitely give them a try I've been really happy with the results myself.

I haven't tried ecosmart, not sure if I can get a hold of it in europe. Now it's too late to spray them but maybe for next time. The UVB bulbs sound interesting, I'll look into that, might at least keep them away from the leaves exposed to light.

Day 91/59

Getting close to the finish line. I think I will give them one more light feeding and then start the flush. The weather has not been my friend this year. The last months have been overcast and humid weather outside so RH has been in the 50-60% range. Normally around this time of year it's no problem to keep the RH below 50% and usually around 40% but not this year. As a consequence I found a small amount of bud rot in one of the Blueberry buds so I cut out the affected part and inspected the other buds but couldn't find any more than that. Hopefully it stays that way.

Great pictures dude, did you get a new camera recently?? Seems to me alot of DPs blueberry strains are not resistant to mold, weather they be auto or photo. I have noticed this in alot of other peoples and myselfs DPs grows. Maybe its something the DP breeders need to work on or maybe its something the grower is doing, strange though.

Nah, I'm still using the same sony dsc-hx20v, it's pretty nice for a compact camera, takes great macro shots too. It might be that the Blueberry is a bit more sensitive to mold. The last one I grew also hade some mold, although at that time the humidity was really high and one CBD Kush also had some mold. Never had any mold on the ABBs I grew. I'm also struggling with the RH this grow, it's been around 50-60% during lights on and a bit higher than that at lights off. Today was the first cold clear day and the humidity dropped to 40%, hopefully it stays that way.
They've been really thirsty lately so I will start watering them every 2 days. It's flush time anyway so it's not a lot of work.
