Dutch Passion Ortega Indica and CBD Kush SCROG under a GN Rebel

Glad to hear that canna is helping you. I was also thinking to mix with traditional strains just for experiment.
Did you tried other CBD strains like SkunkHaze ? Maybe its more effective because its not just thc and cbd levels that are important, theres a whole range of cannabinoids and terpenes :)

I plan to try more medical varietes, I agree with you, I think getting an as wide as possible cannabinoid profile is probably beneficial. Next grow will probably be Compassion, Night queen and CBD Kush.

Day 105/73

The weather is definitely not doing me any favors. It was nice for a couple of days and then it went back to being mild and humid. I've really been struggling to keep the RH in check and as a consequence I've had to decapitate 3 more buds. I lost most of the Blueberry main cola and half of two colas from CBD#2. I think I cut away around 10-15g already. It really sucks tossing what would have been some awesome weed.
It looks like CBD#1 and the Blueberry are ready for harvest. I will try to take them down as soon as possible but I'm not sure when I will be able to with the family around. I took down the main colas of the Blueberry today and I just hope I can get the rest of them down before there is more bud rot. At least the canopy is a bit less dense with the Blueberry gone.
Today it's been pretty good with the RH sitting around 40% I just hope it lasts for some more days.

I managed to get a shot of the remaining bigger blueberry cola. It's already in a bag drying by now.

Trichomes are looking pretty good. This will be the next one to come down.

#2 is still throwing out quite a lot of pistils so it will be the last one to go. It has some nice purpling going on at the top sugar leaves that I quite like.

I am late to the party Dirty Budster.

Happen to have a pack of the CBD Kush and a couple of other CBD strains. The CBD OG by Cali Connection is a wild sativa leaning beast. Not the squat description at all. It is--I would guess over four foot and out of control. Took four weeks just to show pre-flower during 12/12. Guess needed a lot more veg. Odd--looked at some trichs on leaves and they are amber. At this time covered with tiny buds--airy for sure. Started off like an Indica and then switched gears to my dismay. Cannabis has a sense of humor for sure.

Going to look over your journal. Look forward to your review.

Good looking grow!

Cheers

Thanks for stopping by Gcase, just in time for the good part :smoke: The CBD Kush would have been 70-80cm or 28-32" if I would have let them grow naturally. They're definitely more towards the indica side although one pheno looked to have a bit more sativa influence with slightly longer stretch and flowering phase by 1-2 weeks.
You should definitely grow some out, I'm really happy with the ones I've grown so far.

Really loving your pictures dude.

Thanks again Grim, I'm glad to hear that! I managed to snap a few more before I cut them down.

Day 110/78

Unfortunately I found quite a lot of bud rot in the last week so I had to toss somewhere between 20 and 30g. If I would have had the chance I would have cut them down a bit earlier, I think I could've salvaged more of it that way but it was not an option with the family around. I noticed on a lot of buds that the mold seemed to start around the leaves that were decaying due to thrips damage. Having to spray them quite late in flower and the high RH contributed as well, never had bud rot issues in winter before. On top of that a lot of the lower buds/popcorn are partly ruined by the thrips so I will see how much of that I can recover.
The main colas are all dried and are currently curing in jars. I still have to cut down the popcorn. Will post up final yield once everything is weighed in.

Anyway, here are some final pictures of the CBD Kush buds.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing rot issues DB, glad to hear you managed to still pull a good harvest though (I'm sure it will be). Been following this grow from the beginning and it's very impressive, and also I appreciate the beautiful pictures and up-close bud porn:porn perv:

Regarding the issues you ran into, one thing you could add to the regime in the future is a silica product. It is reported to boost the plant's immunity to pests and also rot/mold and many growers are using it with good results AND it acts as a ph-up so it's all good. If you don't like how it affects the ph of your feed you can also foliar spray it (make sure to dilute and also only spray until 1-2 week of flowering then stop). Just my "My 2 cents" as I think it might help you in your next grow which I'm sure will be even more successful :d5:

YEah dude sorry to hear about the bud rot. I have read that when a plant is un healthy or sick this is the time mold will attack as the plants defenses are down. Just like Londonpeach said a Silicon product like silica will help boost the plants health and make it more immune to pest attacks and mold. Just make sure to add it to your nutrients mix after you have added all your additives and base nutes and then correct the ph. Another helpfull product i have found to deal with pests is CANNA CURE its is a foliar spay but its good stuff and its mostly organic and natural. It works in a way of creating a natural sticky coating over the stalk and the leaves of the plant and all pest will get stuck to it and die, then you can just clean off all the dead ones.
Cant remember if you said it already dude so im sorry it this is useless info but there is a great organic product called bud rot stop, if you see signs of mold you just spray this stuff on your buds and it stops the mold right in its tracks. I have seen it working with my own eyes and let me tell you its great, it wont effect the taste or the final bud smell. Cant wait to see what your final yield is man.

Thanks for the nice comments, I appreciate that. I read about silica and it sounds interesting. Might be worth a try at least, just got to find a place to buy it. I found a product called Mineral magic from GHE,which is a natural silicate powder that should provide silicon in a plant accessible form.

Thanks for the input Grim, if I can get a hold of some silica I will try that. I had a look for bud rot stop but couldn't find it in any of my usual places. I did find this paper (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24047252) that suggests that adding Trichoderma to the soil provides a certain resistance to mold in tomatoes. I found something called micro-life from Bio Nova, which contains a bunch of different Mycorrhiza, Bacillus and Trichoderma. I might give that a try. Possibly running one plant with and one plant without. I'll look into the canna cure as well. Is it messy to use?
I didn't realize the thrips would make them more susceptible to mold. Had I known that I would have tried to cut them down earlier, probably could have saved a bit more that way. I cut down the popcorn yesterday and a lot of it was destroyed by thrips/mold. I've never seen mold on popcorn buds before.

No man the Canna Cure works fine and you dont really notice it but the pests do. Yeah man it look like we were on the same brain wave there as i have been looking at tricoderma too and its sounds like a good way to combat mold or a t least help in a preventative measure. I would suggest getting the granules of it rahter than the powder than at least you know its in the soil and it will take a while for all of it to brake down.
Now i dont know if i have said it to you before but what about getting a dehumidifier?? I have found one that works great for our size tents and they really do help. I have had mine a year and its the shit and really quite and has saved my plants a few times last year.
Dehumidifier <------ there is the link to my one. It really works well especially if you use it on the lower setting which is about 300ws. You might find it cheeper on ebay and it also helps to heat your room if you think you will need it.

Like @Grim Reefer said that should solve your problem, I used Canna Cure myself and it works great, also have some friends who used bud rot stop with good results. But the question is why you have these problems, i say this cuz i've grown in worse conditions and didnt have so many problems like you. Experiment and observe, you'll find out what piece of puzzle is missing :)
Btw,Mycorrhiza is a great stuff, should be used anyway :)

Alright, I think I'll give the Canna cure a try, thanks . I thought about a dehumidifer but there are some disadvantages that I can see. The tent is too small to fit a dehumidifier inside so I would need to put it in the room outside the tent. For that to be possible it would have to be very quiet not to spoil my stealthy setup. The one you linked looks much more promising than the ones I looked at so far since it doesn't use a compressor. The other thing is power, my whole setup uses a bit more than 200W (light+fans) so adding a 300W dehumidifier would increase that quite a bit. But it's good to know that you had good results with this model, I might get one to use during the worst times for some peace of mind.

I'm honestly not sure why this has become so problematic at the moment. I did 3 grows without any mold issues. Then on my last grow I had to cut away a few buds but probably not more than 8-10g and since it was the first time growing during summer I chalked it up to higher humidity due to the weather. This time around the RH was also a bit higher than I would normally have but not catastrophic. I think a lot of it was due to the thrips damage that caused the sugar leaves to start decaying much earlier and then the mold got started there.
