I gave them another light feeding yesterday, until run-off this time. They were looking pretty green already so I backed off the nutes and gave them rhizotonic and epsom salts only. PH was 6.4 going in (added a bit too much pH down) and 6.3-6.4 coming out. Seems to be in the right range at least, I will up the pH slightly next time and feed at 6.6. They seem to be doing well, the first side shoots reached the screen already and now the fun begins
Short update, it's now 6 days since I topped them and they seem to be recovering well. I started training the side-shoots already and the main tops are not far behind. CBD#2 stretched quite a lot in the beginning so maybe I should have topped it one node earlier. I used some string to pull it back and I hope it stays there so I can train one of the tops 90 degrees to the main stem.
The Blueberry in the back is on day 11 and also seems to be doing well.
I realized that I kept them a bit too dry, as I was worried about over watering them. After the first watering until run-off I waited 5 days, by then the pots where pretty light and the plants were drooping slightly. I also noticed that the growth slowed down. The day after watering they grew noticably over night with plenty of new light green growth. So this time around I watered them after 3 days and they look much happier. Last feeding was with rhizotonic, 1/5 veg nutes and 1/2 tsp/gallon of epsom salts, pH was 6.5 in and 6.5 out.
I will flip them into flower in the next days, I just want to let the Blueberry mature a bit more before the flip. I have a feeling the stretch is going to be interesting. It will definitely keep me busy.
I switched on all 6 spots (180W) on the light and raised it so that it's 64 cm above the screen and about 58-60cm away from the tops.
The Blueberry is on day 18 and just came through the screen. It's looking a bit light green so I will up the nutes next time.
I flipped them into flower today. They immediately started stretching, I didn't expect them to take off so quickly. I have a feeling it will be an interesting few weeks while they stretch. I think I will have enough space but we shall see. They haven't been very hungry up until now so I've kept them on rhizotonic and a 1/5 of veg nutes and epsom salt. Yesterday I fed them the same but with 2/5 of veg nutes to give them a bit more in preparation for the stretch. I think that was a good idea judging by how much they grew in a day.
I had some trouble pH-ing the feed yesterday, it seems there is something wrong with my pH meter. It's very slow in taking readings and will occasionally jump 0.1-0.2 points. I don't really trust it anymore. I tried cleaning the probe already and re-calibrate it but that didn't help. After calibration it reads the calibration solutions spot on but when pH-ing the feed it's not very consistent. Any recommendations for a nice pH meter?
Here they are post training. Some of the shoots already reached the Blueberry so I think I will let them grow in behind and around it.
