Dutch Passion Ortega Indica and CBD Kush SCROG under a GN Rebel

Killer light bro you will see some rapid growth under that Rebel spectrum.

Thanks mate, I'm hoping that if I can avoid any early deficiencies I will get to see its full potential.

Good luck dirty! Subbed for the ride.

Welcome Bunny and thanks for subbing up!

Day 10

The Kush plants are coming along nicely but I haven't had much luck with the Ortegas. The one that sprouted has been above ground for 4 days and there is still no sign of the first set of leaves only the cotyledons. I'm not sure it will make it. In the other pot I have two seeds. One of them is cracked open and I can see the taproot but it's not coming out. The other one has a taproot coming out and I could see a small bulge in the soil but it never sprouted. I have devised a plan B in case it doesn't work out with the Ortegas. I put a Blueberry seed in water yesterday. Today it was cracked open with a few millimeter of taproot sticking out already so it looks ready to go. I put it in soil today.
I plan to top the Kush plants and place them in opposite corners and train the two mainshoots of each plant along the sides of the screen. Then I thought I could put the Blueberry in the other corner and let that grow diagonally across the screen. I figure if I top the Kush plants it will also give the Blueberry a chance to catch up. I haven't tried topping before so it will be interesting for me. I'm thinking of cutting them between the 4th and the 5th node. Am I correct in thinking that I will get two mainshoots that I can train across the screen just like a single/non-topped one?

In my previous grows it was usually around this time I would see the first signs of mag def but it's looking good so far.

This is the Ortega that sprouted 4 days ago. It grew a little bit vertically but then it stopped.

Good start bro! :kusht:

6 Rebels is awesome brother. I'd love that light. Looking good so far :gthumb:

Hey Db get on to Dutch Passion Tony about those Ortega's im sure he will be more than happy to help you out.
Im actually growing some photos myself and they have been vegging for the last 12 weeks with my autos.
Your right about topping them it can even be done after the 3rd node i will warn you though man dont top them twice in the one go as that will really slow growth and it will take them a long time to recover from it. Topping them once and and then leaving them recover is fine, then you can top them again without stunning growth to much.
Your right about training them, you will get two main shoots where you top the plant and its actually very easy to train this growth as it starts out very week and easy to bend. The whole reason for a scrog is so that you can top your plant a Lst it, that is a true scrog.
Hope that helps man, your grow is looking amazing the best one you have done yet.

Thanks mate! I'm making my way trough your thread, it's a really nice grow journal you got there!

I'm really happy with the light, it's perfect for my space. Thanks man!

Thanks a lot Grim, that was really helpful. For now I only plan to top them once but I will see once they're a bit further along. It seems a bit of epsom salt really does the trick. Hopefully I can keep them happy. Did you start a journal for your photo plants? I would be interested to see that.

Day 13

It looks like I'll be doing two CBD Kush and a Blueberry. The Kush plants are still going strong and the Blueberry popped up today. I think I will give them a light feeding tomorrow. I lowered the light so that it's now 45 cm away, still running at 60W. I centered it over the Kush plants and put the Blueberry on the side so it gets less intense light to start with.

I'm really happy to have nice green looking plants at this stage as it was usually around this time the mag issues started in my previous grows.

A pic of the Blueberry that just sprouted.

I dont have a journal man but i will get a small one up for when they go in to flower, i will send you the link when i get it done. They are currently in 6 litres pots and two of them are standing over 2 meters high.

I figured they would be pretty big after 12weeks of veg  I'm looking forward to seeing them in flower.

Day 17

Things have been going pretty smoothly, no big surprises. I gave them a light feeding on day 14 consisting of 1/5 veg nutes, rhizotonic and 1tsp/gallon epsom salt. I only gave them 0.5l each. I noticed the day after that the growth seemed to accelerate, I might have kept them a bit on the dry side. Since I mixed a batch of 2l I gave them another 0.5l on day 16, I think that will last them a while.
Today I topped off the pots with soil to compensate for the shrinkage after watering and I topped the 2 CBD Kush plants between the 4th and the 5th node. I'm curious to see how that turns out.

CBD#2 seems to be more stretchy, it's standing 19cm tall. CBD#1 is around 14cm tall. I think once they've recovered from the topping I will put the screen in. Normally I also switch on 4 spots on the light as the pots are placed in the corners so I need more coverage. I'm not sure how to deal with the Blueberry as the light will probably be too close since it's still just a seedling. Perhaps I can cover the spot directly above it with a piece of paper or maybe try to angle the light slightly away from it.

Here is CBD#2 before topping...

..and here it is after. It feels almost wrong to cut the top of the plant off. Normally I try to avoid damaging the main stem

Finally, the blueberry on day 5.

Man your pictures are fantastic and congratulations you successfully topped you first plant. Just remember your not growing autos anymore, from the little experience i have, photos love getting topped. Wait till you see the difference this is going to be great for your scrog, you probably will want to top all your plants from now on.
Cant wait to see more of this man, im glued to your thread.

Thanks mate, I'm happy to hear that! If it goes well this grow I just might continue topping them. It might be nice to run fewer plants as well, less work and easier to access.

Day 20

As expected, the topping slowed them down somewhat. Vertical growth stopped but now after 3 days I think they started growing again. They started getting pretty tall so it was time to put the screen in. At the same time I switched on 4 spots (120W) on the light and raised it to 55cm. It's about 63 cm away from the smaller Blueberry and I think that should work. I took the plants out of the tent while putting the screen in and I noticed that the veg smell started kicking in.
I just re-strung the screen, it was starting to get pretty worn after 4 grows, the string started fraying. Now it's all new and pretty again
