quick question about feeding. i know you top off daily with water but if your ec is dropping do you continue to top off with just water until the next rez change or do you add nutes every other day to keep your desire ec??? im sure you've answered this but i must of missed it (to be clear i am not talking about pk)

the object with feeding is to find the plants sweet spot, this is where the ph and ec remain stable

between veg and the end of pre-flower stretch is where you will spend most the time increasing feed each week, by the end of pre-flower stretch you should be fully dialed in

if the ec drops increase the feed untill its stable

if the ec increases add more water to lower the feed ratio

when you hit the sweet spot they consume both water and feed at the same ratio so as the res empties the ph and ec remain the same, by topping off with water all im doing is slightly under feeding as ive more or less found their threshold , a lot of hydro growers like to push their plants until they see the leaf tips turn yellow as this tells them your at breaking point but the best way is to monitor the ec and ph

once you find a plants threshold you can then manipulate the plant even more by switching ratios as long as you dont go over her max ec, for example if the plant has a limit of 2.0ec i can make her pk stronger by switching the ratios but not exceeding the 2.0

i know people who grow the same strain over and over again (uk cheese) and they know that strain inside out every step of the way, what she is gonna do and when she is gonna do it and thats kinda the best connection you could ever get with plants, the amount of commitment to just 1 strain being grown over and over again to get that level of understanding is pure passion and every strain will have their own prefrences as to what makes them happy and its down to the grower to help them express that

its very rare i top up with nutrients unless its pk week

 fantastic info Seymour even for us dirt growers. +Rep bro.

ok i was curious because i am currently running 2 5 gallon dwc buckets. both of them are royal queens northern lights as i changed nutes last tuesday one bucket was set at 1.1ec and the other at 1.3 by saturday the 1.1 ec dropped to .9 and the 1.3 dropped to 1.0 (topped with just plain water everyday) so it got me thinking should i try to keep the ec stable through out the whole week or just wait to the week is up to increase. your info was great but if u have any other suggestions based on this info i just gave you feel free!!! thanks a lot seymour.

by the way i did a fresh rez change today and ill see what happens this week. today is day 27 for them i also started their flowering cycle this week as i dont want dem too big. hairs havent shown yet but i see plenty of pistil (where the hair comes out from)

as stated above.... if the ec drops increase their feed

its best to monitor the ec and ph a few days after a fresh res change as this will give a better indication of what the plants want, if your adding plain tap water this is of course gonna lower your ec so my advice is to check the ec and ph after a couple of days of the res change and if the ec has dropped wait until its empty and give them a fresh batch with a higher value ec, sometimes if the ec drops the ph will rise so just lower the ph to the range you want untill your ready to give them a fresh res

if you do it this way your not wasting nutrients, if your background ec is 0 by week 5 id want to be on 1.4ec, whatever your background ec is add this on top

slight under feed is ok so dont panic but you really wanna be in tune with your plants for maximum return so listen to what their telling you

day 64

taiga time , these are coming down at the weekend making this a 67 day grow from seed to harvest and they smell amazing, my carbon filter is having trouble keeping up with these which begs the question is it a time for a new filter hmmmm

the buds are very sticky and covered in thc as im sure you will see in the pics which means im gonna get some great extraction from the sugar leaves that get removed from both plants

all things considered these didnt get the best start in life they were showing signs of defeciency right from the start as i used canna aqua, i then switched to genesis which made it slightly better but this just goes to show that even with signs of defeciencies and even if the grow isnt going as planned you can still reap a reward :D

Monster buds you got going on there bro. That's a fine job u have done with the sisters.

you have reaped a very nice reward there Seymour. Very resinous too, very nice growing. With Taiga #2 we improved the yields so we will have to get you some of those beans to add to your collection

I hope she is as good as before, enjoy
