pk is something that the plants require in blooming stage of growth, with autos when they show sex you can keep them on veg nutes while they do their pre-flower stretch or you can switch them to a bloom feed which is higher in pk and lower in nitrogen, the advantages of switching to bloom nutes earlier is they will flower quicker while if you keep them on grow nutrients for longer they will grow bigger but may also extend the grow period and increase yield, as a grower your in control to a certain extent
a lot will also depends on the type of plant your growing to decide on what course of action to take for example if i was growing an indica dominant strain i would wait till she is finished pre-flower stretch before giving her bloom nutes while if she is staiva dom i would try and induce her to flower quicker and slow down her stretch, this takes practice but is valuable information to know to be able to achieve the kind of results you want
with a pk boost you can give your plants spikes in terms of growth stage, in pre flower stretch you can hit them with pk boost @ 1ml per ltr to quicken up the flower cycle (shocks them into flowering) but only do this for 1 week, it acts as a booster, depending on the ratio of you booster plays a massive factor as to when and how its administered to the plants
i could'nt give my plants pk13/14 at full dosage throughout her grow cycle without over saturating her with excessive nutrient build up however i could give her pk in lower dosages starting at say .2ml per ltr and work my way up untill i hit full dosage, this is what i refer to as the hesi nutrient regime
the method which i use currently is pk 13/14 for 1 week only but i give the plants a full shot every other day, so on that weeks res change they will get 15ml then i miss a day then give her another 15ml etc etc untill the week is over, the following week i could give her hammerhead which is lower dosage of 4/9 which isnt has heavy but still gives the plant time to recover, by doubling the the dosage of hammerhead you actually creating a 9/18 mix but i always find that higher potassium will cause your buds to foxtail (calyx ontop of calyx formation)
i always wait until the flowers have formed before giving them pk boost as this is the time of the grow when they pack on weight, im sure other growers will have varying degrees as to when and how they treat their plants and the results they get but its down to grower preference
you may need to read that info a couple of times for it to make sense but it should give you a bit better understanding of the uses of extra pk in blooming phase
