Organic Forum Discussion

Damn, seems like I messed up already! I don't have any money left right now, I could maaaaybe stretch to a bag of perlite and add that in. I don't know where I would get oyster or crab shells round here, damn do you think I'm going to run into problems already now?!

I was looking at the TLO recipes sticky and some of those don't have much and are super basic for begginers. I thought my mix was in between that and something much more elaborate?

I'll see if I can get some perlite tomorrow.Hope I haven't wasted my money!

Thanks for helping me out though dudes, much appreciated.

No,,you'll be fine man..Just make sure ya got yer mellow NPK and calcium and trace(Micro n macro elements) and added foods n composts n thats it in a rough draft..Small batches wont maintain the heat..it'll cook excellent..just more of a flash cooking if ya will, very short..gets used up fast.so once you get all your components together with the perlite and something for a quick calcium and staying power of calcium.

And dude..yer not messing up brother..yer learning man..relax :pass:

ya aint messed up..yer just spun up cuz amounts and items is confusing..if you look on the sticky..your best bet.ANYONE will tell you this, pick one of a couple or three recipes and decide which one you wanna use thats recommended by ppl whom you trust and have used said recipes..Im only aware of three.two to be a little more specific..thats why once I grew with my rev mix I took that existing template and shifted it a little to improve upon and increased the foods.its simple..just relax n know ya got the stuff for it.just saying to try n get quick and slower blending stuffs for staying power..thats all Im really trying to say..yer fine.the extras are great since they help add and buffer and mkaintain yer mixes...relax n just get yer materials and a cpl totes if ya can or similar.

It's all a learning curves brothers! I'll see what else I can pick up and add to the mix this week! Exciting times though, can't wait get my organics on!

A stupid question..

a member of my team bought soil and it is the wrong kind. I wanted promix hp or bx and he got promix ultimate. It has time released N... We are all organic and im freaking out. Do I have to make him try to return it all or can I flush the hell out of it and use?

Im not familiar with the product specifically but imo Id try to return it since I wouldn't wanna waste the water really.Ya can work it out if you have time..But Id return it..:peace:

Unfortunately you can't flush the nutrients out of the soil.

I didnt think you could but I was hoping I was wrong.

Is that pretty much the rule as ya cant flush em out unless I suppose its granule n sift or rinse..?Always wondered about that on a more specific level..

Hey uh, you guys use Gypsum dust for your Calcium? Found a 5 Lb box of some good looking Gypsum on fleabay for $10 shipped, and I think it's even OMRI listed. Seems like a no brainer. I haven't added any direct Cal source to my mix, and the plants are doing amazing, not showing any Cal def. as of yet. I do have tons of Azomite, Greensand, epsom, and various seaweeds up in there, so it's probably getting a good coverage of the basics. I'm preparing the "stage II level" lol of ammendments, and will likely include the Gypsum.

Yeah, sorry EoF, trying to upload some pictures and just saw this. Yeah, the problem is the nutrients are time released. I am sure you have seen them before, they are little balls, kind of like mini jawbreakers. The problem is the dissolve with water over time. It would be like trying to soak a jawbreaker or lollipop by running water over it. It just isn't going to happen quickly by running water through it.

Yeah, if you get the correct mesh you could probably sift it but at $30 a bale I treasure my time more than that. If it was a few hundred dollars then I am thinking of a way to get that crap out! At $30 I am trashing it and chalking it up as a loss.
