Olderfart's Dive Down the Living Soil Rabbit Hole

Cool.
It’s super hard trying to figure stuff like this out since a consistent control is next to impossible.
Outside, I still get mosquitoes in my soil. I’ll probably just use dunks like you next year.
The devil is always in the details with tests. A proper study needs to be done with clones, not seeds, for starters. Then there is the issue of sample size. IMO, most of us home growers are unlikely to accomplish a study that proves much. I know that I won't.

7. Nov 17 update. Progress for most of the girls.
Well peeps, here they are on Nov. 17.

First the pollen plants at Day 32:

They have been on CS once a day for about a week and a half. No sign of balls yet, but it is still early.

The CBD pot in with its mixed results:

The two larger plants are at Day 26, the seedling at Day 11. The seedling is unlikely to do much at this point, and I have a replacement started, but it remains to be seen whether the replacement shows stronger growth and actually gets planted. These CBD seeds have been fussier than usual, at least in my hands they have.

The 24C sisters at Day 19:

They are progressing ok after topping a few days back. They are still on top watering, but the reservoir will be turned on shortly, maybe later today.

The Fugue State girl, also at Day 19:

Also progressing ok after topping a couple days back, and ditto re. irrigation.

And finally, the Queen of the show, Ms SSSC Auto Ellephant at Day 26:

She is doing well, maybe headed for monster territory. Keep in mind that that is a 30 liter (so called 10 gallon) pot.
Nitrogen might be a bit on the rich side given the clawing, but so far, she is just growing happily through it all.

I have not seen a gnat in over a week...

Happy growing peeps. :pighug:

She is a goodn for sure. Is that a 1:1 THC/CBD strain?
She is more like 2:1 THC/CBD, but higher for both than most comparable strains, up to 20/10 according to the breeder. However, I will believe those levels when I see independent tests. ~30% total for just THC and CBD is a hell of a high amount of cannabinoids, and those two are not the entire list.

At any rate, she is a happy plant at the moment, and any high-ish THC with ~1/2 CBD will work just fine for me. The genetics seem super solid to me so far.

these work well tooView attachment 1388584:d5:

making it nice and breezy makes the little shits hate life as well
looking good! gl!
I considered those, but shipping them to me in the winter sounds risky. It seems that the Bti and stickies have defeated the gnats in this grow, unlike the last one. I mixed the Bti into the soil last grow, but put it in the water used for top watering this time. Watering with it seems to have completely killed them off, assisted a bit by the stickies.

I have lots of air movement in there now wit a large oscillating fan near the ceiling, and later with a set of lower fans that will move air in the lower canopy once all plants get taller. I will also do leaf trimming as needed to keep the air moving through the canopy. And the rot block may well come out before I am done.

Thanks for checking in @Tom Bombadil, and thanks for the reminder about the nematodes. :pighug:

Mosquito dunk work well also. If it works dont fix it!

I do believe this strain of nematode is freeze tolerant... (for future reference)
