Hey guys,
Firstly congratulations on a great interactive forum, lots of fantastic info, well documented grows and above all else, specific guidance and help for one another *high five*.

So a little snapshot of me, was a fulltime smoker for many years from my teenage days, who just by necessity and influence became a small time grower both in and outdoors. Back then though things were very different, for me, and for resourcing materials and proper genetics. My first grow was from weed seed, haha, but i was hooked from that first day.

A couple of buddies who knew others kinda connected the dots, these were times before mobile phones and internet (Dark Ages) and secrecy and trust bound you together. I had my successes and failures as we all do, everything from getting ripped off, half dry buds, to 14 foot monster sativas that resembled trees. All the highs and lows a grower can go through.

Anyway I got out, gave up smoking, raised a family. A friend of mine grew outdoors last season and giving him some guidance and hands on help gave me a truly great feeling. Because of that I'm now looking into dabbling again, it is absolutely incredible to see just how far along things have progressed. But the newest development to me is these Autos, I'm kind of curious and excited to say the least.

Ive read the stickys and many of the journals, watched countless vids and although indoors may be an option later Im prepping for outdoors. You guys have been the true provers, and its inspired me. The weather here is forcing me to wait it out, but like the old days theres a million things to do before the first seed pops so im sure I'll keep busy in the meantime.

Cheers

Hi and a big welcome to AFN :welcome:....fellow Aussie outdoor growing enthusiast here :headbang:....if there's anything I can do to help feel free to tag me like this @the green bandit .....I've just started my seeds getting ready for the spring grow ...your going to love autos, shit we can have weed in jars by Xmas now :toke:......:pass:

Cheers for the reply Bud, much appreciated. Im sure I will need some steady hands for guidance along the way, these Autos really are unique.

My patch will be in Northern Vic to place me on the map, going to run Photo aswell to ease me back in, certainly my wheelhouse. If that is welcome I'll be sure to run a journal/s of all my grows, although 99% of every pitfall and problem i can think of has been covered in these pages, sometimes unique challenges of the environment or style (in this case guerilla grow) throw up new information.

@hecno is another fellow Ozzie grower that's always full of great advice and is a good bloke to talk to about anything soil related

Ive bookmarked both, but thanks mate, its clear from these the different beasts that Autos are.

I havent come to any hard and fast choices yet, due to a couple of factors.
Firstly its gonna depend on what i can actually get in through the post, and perhaps also what is available on the market at home. I use a cheat for all my deliveries, deliver to home address under previous occupant name, write return to sender on pack, let sit for a period of time, the more sensative, the longer i let sit. Thats a huge tip for anyone trying to get their hands on something who wants plausible deniability. *Thumbs up*

My photos I think ill definitely to something milder in Sativa dom, definitely preference for production values and yeild, and preference of two main points for quality feedback. They seem to hold on better through the extremes we get, although last summer here had record days over 40C, which threw up some real challenges.

For the Autos for my own grower development and possible personal use im gonna experiment with Ind doms, and try to get in a higher cbd strain, and try a bit of an across the board trial on a few types, I have a perfect spot for low canopy multi grow, and staggered stage plantings to maximise time and trobleshooting. The grow plan is set in my mind, just need to find the right strains to match.

Something like that. Going to talk to my nephew who got several orders through not exactly sure who he used, simply saw his IG posts and a few named strains, maybe 80 odd seeds which is a pretty damn good return I would say looking from afar, albeit they were Photos.

Of those I would def be interested in some, Pineapple express, White Widow and Northern Lights, the latter being a popular choice even as far back as I can remember. Any way Im just trying to stay practical, Im still a father dreaming of his progeny, Ill get a little more sorted on exact details when and if they land.

In the meantime Ive got most of the tools and equipment lined up over the last month. Locations prepped and monitored for activity. Took me a solid 3 days of hiking in and out of remote bush (1 through heavy hail) measuring light levels, managing canopy heights, esuring over head monitoring cant get too close by selecting a site with tall trees nearby that dont obscure a sunny path to the east, north and west, fanning out for signs of rubbish and occupation, timing travel times around work schedules, figuring out 2 to 3 ways in and out. Its amazing how far human activity ventures into potential areas for a serious grow site guerrilla style, any even slight occupation signs within 300ms is too close for me. Fencing already constructed for critter control on all sites, our native animals love to investigate and can devestate things pretty quickly. I tried cages once but the time in construction and the visual footprint was not worth it. The ladies need a safe place to do their thing!

Soil and watering systems for low tended photos takes a while to prepare but im ahead of the game this year, pvcs glued, water gates dialled in, all painted camo, flow rates checked, configuration measured to fit site, organic soil set aside for potting, and tea drums ready to roll. Im yet to decide exactly how to treat the autos, the lower nutrient need might be more challenging.

All in all Prep is much more time consuming and stressful imo, but Im close, which means as soon as the weather breaks ill be ready for business only needing a cpl of weekday daylight hours to erect, then from there the ladies probably only need attention 2 times a week unless temps soar dramatically. Maybe more detail than needed, but kinda been busy keeping busy.

Cheers.
