Jesus man. Tough break! Thanks for the heads up though. Im gearing up to buy my Hanna ph pen this tuesday (payday!) and I assumed because it is higher end it would be calibrated. Where did you scoop up your solution?

i got it on amazon..well worth the investment..see? im glad i poste that, ive helped someone already!

Nice. Not even gonna bust your balls. You caught it and fixed and have done totally decent considering man. No worries. Sounds like something I might do. Which meter did you get? Can't remember. The badass Hanna one does say Auto Calibration. I used mine right outta the box because I didn't have my calibration solution yet. Luckily, mine wasn't off that much, when I found out later when I got my solution in. But yeah, just because it's nice or says Auto Calibrate, still check that beast. better safe than sorry. I still checked mine against the liquid color drops about once a week or so, but that could easily be my ocd kicking in, haha.

While we're at it, to both of you. Make sure you have storage solution too. The electrode on the end of the meter must be kept wet at all times. Do not just use water. I have heard of people using 7ph calibration solution for this and it worked fine, but I use the storage solution and change it out every week or so, maybe more, depends on how much you take it in and out. Just make sure you rinse that off with clean water before you use it so it won't contaminate.

you have to keep it wet? awww bro WTF!! i assumed it had to be kept dry..lol. im such a newwwbe its unbelievable. I guess, if ive never used this type of equipment, how the heck am i supposed to know, right? Go-lly! Im so irritated right now. Im gonna go make sure its wet...:cuss:

Damn, tell me you're joking man. Shit that's crazy that as much as you've read and bounce around you've never seen us talk about that. You should be ok though. Muddy said he let his dry out once on accident so the electrode only lasted about a year as opposed to the 18 months or more that it should last. Luckily, with the Hanna he and I have it is replaceable for around $45, which isn't too bad.

Not sure which one you got, but didn't you read the directions? haha. Sorry, just messin' with you. The Hanna has a cap with a little section inside and a small square of foam that makes sure the solution doesn't dry out. When you put it on, the electrode stays down in that section and as long as it's stored upright, I am all good. Obviously, yours still works, but it may just not last as long. Sorry man.

lol..as far as directions, im one of those guys that doesnt really ever use directions..i usually rgret it tho. oh well..not gonna stress about it. it says HMdigital on it..has temp and ph. cost me about $60 or so if i can remember correctly.

Growbe, really like your attitude about the whole situation. Live and learn. No need to feel embarrassed, we've all made similar mistakes at one time or another.

I know I sometimes sound like a broken record when it come to pH. But it's the root cause of most issues new growers run into so I keep on about it.

Yes. This is one of many reason why I firmly believe that Growbee will succeed and has thus far. Attitude goes a long way in my scrolls.
