Ive dabbled with messages and forum posts a little, but wasnt sure if I was gonna go ahead with a grow journal. This is my first grow, and I am at day 14 out of the soil.
Ive got 3 afghan kush ryders (autos) and 3 dinafem white widows (photo) I made the mistake of planting photo's with autos, so Im gonna go with a 20/4 light period throughout the autos, then switch to 12/12 to finish off the photo's. Hopefully this works..Ive got a 4X4X7 grow tent, Im starting off my seedlings under 2 T5 strips (4ft) and 4 (2ft) grow lights, shitty ones from walmart(i know). and next week or so, im gonna switch them to a 1000 watt hps.
So far, beside a fungus gnat problem, everything seems to be going great. Ive been a nervous wreck for the past couple weeks, on this sight 2-3 times daily to assure that ive got good progress. The bugs are slowly dissipating, thanks to mosquito dunks, and the plants are looking vibrant and healthy!(knock, knock) My girls are sleeping right now, but ill post pics of them as of today when they get up in a couple hrs..any thoughts are welcome through this process, good or bad! Thanks everyone!

Hey there growbewan. Glad to see you taking the plunge! Have fun and don't take it too seriously and stress yourself out, it ain't worth it, trust me. I have an AKR going now they're said to be badass.

Your photos and autos together should be ok I think, until you can flip them when the autos are done.

I personally would like to know all of the other specs of your grow.
Medium/type of pots
Nutrients
Ventilation

Good luck man.

day 12 side akr3.jpgin the meanwhile, here are a few pics from a couple days ago, believe it or not, theyve actually grown a bunch since then! As i said, ill take updated ones in a couple hours!

Looking good growbewan. I saw a nice vinyl sheen to some leaves there which is an indicator of good health.

Keep it going man. :)

wow, thanks squid..good points. my pots are standard 5 gallon buckets that i drilled about 15 quarter inch holes into, i have an organic soil medium called "roots" by aurora. its friggin' expensive, but i heard its the best from the guy at the shop. seems to be working great, and for my nutes ive got the general organics' bio root, bio thrive (veg) and bio bud (flower). the only one ive been using is about 1/4 of the root so far, as the guy at the store informed me its great from the start. i also us theyre ph down, for my tap water comes in at 8.3 ish. ventilation, ive got great ventilation in this tent, but i also have an exaust fan that pulls at 720 cfm, which ive only been using sparingly until the 1000 watter kicks on. ive got 2 oscillating fans, and im keeping my room cooled with a window a/c

i fig'd with me going in and out of the tent 10 times a day, theres plenty of air exchange for now..haha. im going to get a less powerful exaust fan for my carbon scrubber in a week or so, that will clean and exchange the air within the room and keep the temps good. the powerful exaust will just be sucking the hot air from the 1000 watt into my attic. and thanks BigBudda, great to hear it!

Very nice man. Sounds like you did some proper reading and homework before getting started. very smart move. And hey, I use those some nutes! haha. Bio Root, Grow, Bloom and I have the Black Diamond and no bio bud. Figured I would be ok without it and it's more expensive that the others in the lineup. Good idea wich just using the Bio Root for now. As you know, AFs don't like any nutes until about three weeks, but I bet you know this already. Looking forward to seeing how well you do. I shall sub up to this to follow. Let us know if you need anything.

haha, yeah, ive been reading non stop..haha. i need to justify why ive spent so much lately to the misses..itll pay off soon tho! thanks again!

I know exactly how that is dude.

Hey growbewan, nice job getting your first grow started. You say your plants are 14 days out of the soil and those pics are a few days old.... Well buddy, you're lookin' really, really fine! Keep up the good work and keep it simple and you'll see some good results, I'm sure.

Are you considering keeping the T5's running even after you get the HPS? Them on the sides and the HPS from up top.... :hump: Oh my. I hope you do that.

Does the fine print on your bag of soil say anything about the nutrient content and what it's made of?

Green Karma on the way! :wiz:
