Hi guys does this look like nutrient lockout to you? I have had a problem with secondary wicking so could well be. I have flushed with half strength and hoping I f I do this again I might be ok? Not the best pic as light was on.

What nutes are you using and are you using any cal/mag?
Just dutch pro a&b for coco, I’m 50% light mix and 50% coco. No cal mag, mainly for RSO so using as little chemicals as possible.

in coco your always going to need a bit of calmag that would be my guess also did you test your runoff ec and ph to what your putting in

I've yet to see a mix of coco and soil go well.. They are two completely different mediums with two different feed requirements. There are two types of lock out... Nutrient lock out from having too much nutrient solution sitting in the soil... And "ph lockout" from the ph of the medium or water used being out of range. To have an idea if you are experiencing a lock out, you will need to check the ppms of the run off while watering with plain ro water. Or check the soil ph with a soil ph probe. It's hard to say which is happening by looks alone.

I run dutch pro as well, and when I use the recommend dose of A & B in ro water (10ml of each per gallon), my ph is dead on 4.2 every time. I have to get the ph up to 6.0 every time. Do you check the ph of the nutrient mix? I would definitely recommended doing so. If it's not between 5.8 and 6.5 you will have on lock out issues. Also Calcium and Magnesium are not "chemicals".. They are organic nutrients that the plant requires for proper growth.

Sorry Tom, lol. But Im on a personal mission to stop this ugly rumor, lol. Nothing personal, I just can't take it anymore, haha.. It's gotten out of hand. It's just not true in 90% of cases. The only time anyone would "need" to use cal/mag is with untreated, unbuffered, brick coco. And even then, it's only needed once, prior to planting. I have no clue where this "add Cal mag every feeding" thing came from.. But Im trying to end it, lol.

this isn't true for me especially under led and the sanlghts i could maybe get away with it with my old hps setup and it also depends on what calcium and nitrogen your a and b have just my opinion mind

You should post your answer as too why you do this in the myth buster thread I just started, lol. Im really interested in hearing from people who practice this, and why!

I always use cal/mag with led's especially during flowering or i get the dreaded gold rust spots.

I foliar feed supplements including cal-mag (CALiMAGic) for as long as I can, at least once a week. Without doing this, I inevitably see starting signs of deficiency. At most, I'll add 1 mL/L to the feed water if I think it needed.

Nutrient lockout due to excess nutrients: Does this just involve uptake from the roots, or is this systemic? Does foliar feeding affect this lockout?
