Non Ruderalis Auto Flowering Strain. Possible?

I wish I knew the source of this information, but I had read somewhere that all cannabis has evolved from Ruderalis. We are talking the a long time so don't anyone get excited. We're talking the evolution of a genus here. Being such, then all cannabis has the autoflower gene.

Also there are seedbanks who claim to have bred all ruderalis genes OUT of their autoflowers. I don't remember the names, but they do exist.

Its funny you mention that. I was just reading this, and it kind of gave me that impression.

Who first cultivated cannabis? Most of our crops are associated with classic civilisations: the Incas and Aztecs with potatoes and maize, Egyptians with wheat, and the Chinese with rice. It has been proposed that cannabis with associated with a lost civilisations, a Shangri La or Shambala of Central Asia (McEno, 1991). Alternatively, cannabis may have been domesticated by nomads, independent or erstwhile civilisations. Nomadic cultivation is supported by the simultaneous historical appearance of cannabis in several locations (china, India, Persia, Europe). The Altai and Tien Shen mountains flank the CEntral Asian steppes, a Neolithic 'nomad belt' stretching from the Black Sea to Mongolia. The Scythians, a Neolithic tribe of migrants, emerged from this territory at the dawn of history. 'Cannabis ruderalis' seeds have been unearthed from Scythian tombs in the Altai mountains. Herodotus (1906 reprint, written ca. 450 BCE) documented the Scythians carrying hemp seeds to Europe; the Scythians also migrated to India and China, where they may have transported cannabis germ plasm. After cannabis was carried across Eurasia, geographically isolated human communities began selecting plants for diverse purposes - for food (seed and seed oil), fibre and medicaments. These isolated areas of cannabis cultivation gave rise to the fantastic variety of plants we see today.

It's possible for true sativas to start flowering because of root restriction, another thing I heard is that a small percent of Zamal has autoflowering tendencies.

I'm growing a Purple Maroc from Female Seeds, which supposedly has no ruderalis - it started fully flowering under 24 hrs T5 light at about 4 weeks - don't know if it's auto or just super eager to flower

I have to agree with you there Balarama about root restriction can start flowering, but its not only with Sativa Strain. Any stress can cause a plant to produce the hormone Ethylene which induces flowering in a plant, it also can cause a plant to Hermie..... "Ethylene is produced from essentially all parts of higher plants, including leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruits, tubers, and seeds. Ethylene production is regulated by a variety of developmental and environmental factors. During the life of the plant, ethylene production is induced during certain stages of growth such as germination, ripening of fruits, abscission of leaves, and senescence of flowers. Ethylene production can also be induced by a variety of external aspects such as mechanical wounding, environmental stresses, and certain chemicals including auxin and other regulators.[SUP][26][/SUP]

You may well be right. Maybe it was someone else I'm think of and not Stitch. There have been several strains, Iranian Auto Flower being one, that were called autos but were really just early flowering photos. :D

I'm so jealous. :Sharing One:pass it this way and let me have a toke.

Whacha mean? Like finishes flowering early or build buds quicker when you go to 12hours?

Nm, found this

Here's a picture of the Chaze superauto pack. It claims 5% ruderalis, 75% sativa, 20% indica.

I'm no breeding expert but my understanding is that the breeder Stitch created his Super Autos from early flowering photo sensitive plants, so they contain no ruderalis. I've grown some of his supers both indoors and out and they always auto flowered at around 5 weeks, regardless of the amount of light they were receiving.

Hmmm...I got a Stitch Blueberry into eight weeks now and it's just showing buds; looks to be a looong grow...I wonder if it ain't just got some of this non-ruderalis super auto thing in it-

Read some DJ Short stuff. He talks about tossing out the males that would auto flower on him

Yes you can find non auto flower sativas.
