Harvest & Curing No Burping Required?

G,Day, Mr Boveda. Greetings from Australia. Maybe you could answer my question ? Extremes of temperature ? could you tell me in relation to YOUR product, what those extremes are ? Thankyou.

I'll continue to look for information on this but I think extreme temperatures would affect it, but
Acetone generation associated with Boveda? It's either possible, in the chemistry, or not. Hopefully, the company rep can clear this up.

If any acetone or other volatile organics are formed during long-term storage, whether with or without Bovedas, that's a good reason to burp the container (here addressing the original question/topic).

But are such trivially low concentrations of acetone (few millions of a gram in a full Liter) a problem at all? Acetone is a common metabolic by-product. What's being detected could just be from plant material fermentation/breakdown; and this could even be a desired or essential part of curing. I also recall acetone is a natural byproduct with human metabolism. It's natural, even expected, so some traces of acetone wouldn't bother me - just burp the container if it's a concern or problem, such as adds undesired smell.

Well-said.

Wow, just saw these and a five pack is going into my stocking. Will be so nice to see the stats of five containers without touching them all on one app. Do you have any holiday specials going on right now?

The butler is priced at $20--not sure if that's introductory price. We'll be having more contests so if you can check any of the social media feeds, you'll see the post :) Good luck!

For "long term storage," what is your or Boveda's view of the value of also adding oxygen removal packets to herb sealed with Boveda packs?

Has Boveda sponsored or do you know of any actual studies of moisture content related to curing or cannabis quality, such as comparing long-term storage in Bovedas in the 50%-70% RH range in terms of THC and/or terpene levels; end-user ratings of curing; or other parameters?

Hey there, I'm not familiar with Boveda's view on needing the oxygen removal packs. Our partners' processes vary and as ever, how Boveda is used is many times subjective as you know. No doubt some of the growers who ship with Boveda may be more familiar with the need lack of need for those packs.

For Cannabis you want to use either 58% or 62%. We know that microorganisms begin to grow at 65% so we don't recommend storing Cannabis in anything higher than 62%. The higher % are for cigars wherein the tobacco's own resins act as its own protectant so-to-speak.

Anything below 58% is going to deteriorate your terpenes by allowing them to oxidize and degrade. Here's an article we wrote on the topic with a link to our terpene study. https://bovedainc.com/boveda-prevents-terpenes-loss/

Boveda headquarters is in Minnesota so they haven't been able to do many of the studies you're suggesting because of Cannabis laws.

Thanks for all the great responses and some fantastic products. I ordered the Butlers after seeing them on eBay for $40 decided I better snag them from you guys. I’m surprised that after a certain dollar amount you don’t give free standard shipping.

Oh great! Let us know what you think of them. Regarding shipping, I find it's getting higher every day on everything.

Oh I will let you know. They were shipped so should be here soon. I can put at least two of them to work right away. One I’m considering sticking in the back of a tent and see how well it works for remote monitoring of temp/humidity in a grow.

Excellent. Regarding using the butler in the tent, this is something that is a common desire. Unfortunately, the butler works best in an airtight container vs the tent. I'm not exactly sure why that is, or what the difference is between this tech and the kind that can be used inside the tent. But, give that a try too and let us know. For me, the fun is in the experimentation :)

A tent is a lot bigger environment versus a small container also, it all makes sense. I didn’t think it would work but thought I would ask. Thanks.

Hi @HemiSync and all, I'm wondering if anyone has used coffeevac or tightvac products? Seems like these might be a good thing, ya? I searched the site but no hits...Flipper
