Once I started using LED I have stopped using my big fans and filters and went to Ona in a homemade bucket . I didn't need the air movement like I did with HID and the Ona has done as well as a charcoal filter for smell . Not to mention the electric bill has dropped a tad also , lol .

Welcome to AFN. Going to move this thread over to the New Growers forum where we can better help you.

I would also recommend a Blackstar 240 watt over HPS. The heat from even a 400 watt HPS can be pretty significant. HPS only provide about 15% usable light compared to about 95% from LEDs. Most of the energy from HPS ends up as heat, which then has to be exhausted. A single LED in that size tent would only raise the ambient temps by about 5 degrees or less. LEDs work best when you grow within their core penetration area, which on the BS 240, is about 2' x 3', so should work very well in a tent that size. You can easily grow 4 plants under one of them. There's also a pretty good electrical savings on running LEDs as compared to HPS.

Regarding fans and filters, here's what I use:

Have had the carbon filter for almost 2 years now and still going strong, filtering out 100% of the odors.

Wow, first off Id like to say thanks so much to all on this forum. I posted on a different forum prior and not many seem helpful. This is the forum I will call home! Thanks again, im sure ill have many more questions to follow but will do much searching and reading prior to asking so I dont become even more annoying.

I'll second Muddy's recommendation of the Blackstar over HPS. I have two Blackstar 240W running in a 3' x 2' x 5' closet and they only raise my ambient temperature by 10 degrees. One 400W HPS in that same space raised my ambient temperature by 25 degrees. Just my
