New Grower New Grower Looking for Advice on Genetics

Sour crack is a mephisto original and my favorite plant to date. All of the crosses like sour blues and others are from it and are short and stocky

Oh yeah, I found your microgrow thread. I'll have to do some studying. That's really good to know about IR. I have a cheap LED from ebay with IR and I'm going to get another one, or a similar one like Marshydro.

I'm sure I'll figure it out if I go through your thread, but how did they get stunted?

I'm feeling torn between Night Queen and Stone Dragon for my first grow. If they're not out of stock by the time I get paid next week, I can get 15 Stone Dragon regular seeds plus 10 free Moonstone regular seeds, which seems like an amazing deal, even if I do have to weed out the pollinating plants. I could even save some and do some breeding experiments in the future.

Thanks for the tips @912GreenSkell. Very helpful.

I attempted to run the seedlings in 16oz cups until they showed their sex and got root restriction. One of the plants(amnesia Stone) showed sex earlier at 14 days and was the least effected. All 3 stone dragons didn't show sex until day 21 so they were most impacted. I am trying a different approach than last season grow of 3 plants(first run), and 5 plants(second run), and am running 8 plats in the cab this round(just for fun! :D )

What type of smell and taste does the crack have? Up sativa high or typical indica heavy stone?

Ive read before that a well grown plant should produce 1 oz per gallon of medium, of course limited by genetics. I think for shorty strains like stone genetics that 3 gallon pots would be big enough.(what atrain said! :D )

Update: I just ordered some Black Stone seeds, along with some free seeds. After learning that Black Stone is a fifth generation stabilization of the black pheno of Stone Dragon, I was sold. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the shipment.

Thanks for the advice @A-Train and @912GreenSkell. I bought my smartpot-type pots like a year ago, when I was thinking more about maximum harvest size than space restrictions. They're 5 gallon, so I'm hoping it won't be too big. I'm probably going to start growing two plants first, then start the other two after the other ones reach flowering stage so it doesn't get too crowded. I also should wait until I get another LED to have four plants growing.

Yeah I saw that in your thread. It makes me wonder if I should start the plants out in little cups to stunt them on purpose, so things don't get too out of control in my closet. Does anyone know if transplanting is a good idea with coco and perlite?

Honestly from what I have seen you probably don't need to stunt them on purpose unless your space is super small. Stone dragons will naturally stay pretty small from what I have seen. Mine truly are stunted plants barely have a 10" diameter.

I suspect that unless I'm extremely careful, some stunting will occur just from transplant shock.

@912GreenSkell or anyone else who may know, What amount of water is required for the seedlings starting out to get a bit of runoff, and about what percentage of the full recommended nutrients do you use? I want to make sure I don't burn my babies, but I don't want to starve them either. Also, so you know what a good distance is for an LED from the seedlings?

I do my seedling very different than most so my method of watering might not be the best(use a spray bottle for the first 5-7 days). How much water to give for runoff all depends on medium and pot size.

Nute strength. I start nutes at 10 days old at roughly 1/4 strength and work my way up to around 1/2 while observing for deficiencies and over fertilizing signs.

Thanks a bunch. I started my grow journal over here, and I'll definitely be needing some advice. https://www.autoflower.org/threads/black-stone-grow-led-in-coco-by-aeonsophia.57116/
