Here ya go, dude. From my boi, Andy Botwin.

Fungus gnats are pretty easy to control, especially if you get them early. I recommend buying some mosquito dunks and putting them in something like a 5 gallon bucket. This is what they look like:

Let them sit at least overnight, preferably with some air bubbles mixing the water. Then use this water on your plants the next couple of times you water them. It will kill the larvae in the soil and your problems will be over. You can also add a fly strip to kill the adult ones that are flying around. I previously tried breaking up the dunks and putting pieces in 1 gallon jugs, but I've found it to be much more effective to just use a big bucket.

There are other solutions like putting DE powder or sand on top of the soil, but the fans can blow that stuff around & I really don't like a messy tent. I also try to avoid spraying things on my plants if I can, so the dunks are my preferred method.

I used to crumble one of those into my soil mix every batch, don't know why I stopped. Make sure to only use dechlorinated water as chlorine or chloramine will kill BT.

yes, yes, yes! i live by those mosquito dunks..miracle workers! i had two NASTY fungus gnat problems with my one grow..those babies got rid of both problems within a week. not to mention they dont bother your plants one bit. Only 9 bucks at walmart and you get like 8 of them. One dunk works for like 3-4 waterings..so one dunk is good to get rid of all of them..most likely

Yup, stole that Andy B. quote from the thread you posted about that a while back :D

I was wondering who said that to me..i knew that whoever it was saved me so much trouble! once again, andy came through in the clutch for me. (i KNEW that post looked familiar!)

Thanks for all the info fellas....my plants are still seedlings so i will add to my next watering......@Mr piggy crush them up in your soil that's sounds like it would work, you think it would be OK for sunshine Mix,and it doesn't kill the mycro.

It's a bacteria that attacks soft bodied larva. It will do absolutely nothing to the mycro in the soil, only add one more  I have no good science to support it surviving in the soil besides it's a warm, dark, moist environment. I always had good luck crumbling them into my mix before, and now that everything flying, crawling and burrowing has found my grow room it's time to start again. Same thing with the garden outdoors, gonna hit it with a spray and soak after dark so it has all night to infect cats.

mr.piggy knows what he is talking about you can pretty much take what he says to the bank just my opinoin he helped me in my first grow

If only my girlfriend shared the same opinion :crying: I'm not THAT knowledgeable, I just know a few tricks :D
