I'm just getting into week 5 of my first grow, fast and vast auto.

I had a little nute burn last week but I believe I've sorted that. I think I might have a serious heat issue, causing my leave to curl over and yellowing around the edges, it was quite bad when I checked this morning. That's why I'm here now, any advice would be appreciated, I don't want them to go to waste and I've put a lot of money into my project.

My tent is quite large, 2x4 with 2 600w HID. I was using a 400w fluorescent blue spec but switched to HID's two weeks ago.

8 plants in 5 gal square pots.

125 TT inline fan, with 150 TT extractor fan, and the heat has only began to become an issue since I've connected it up to my carbon filter (obviously it's not sucking out as much hot air) but what can I do???

Advice is much appreciated, pictures will follow shortly.

Thanks.

Sounds like heat issues. What's the temp in the tent? How close are the bulbs to your plants?

My lights are over a meter away from my plants, near the top of the tent. . If they get any taller I won't be able to put the lights much higher. The heat has been a big issue since I've connected the ducting to the filter. . It was just sucking all the hot air out. . . I had a shock when I seen them this morning when I went to turn the lights off!

A single 600 watt HID is plenty for your tent size. Carbon filters create quite a bit of reduction in the air flow. If your temps are still too high after turning off one of the lights you will need a stronger extractor fan

2 600 watt hids in a 2x4 foot tent sounds like overkill mate. Have you tried just running 1 light? 400w or even 250w would probably be enough in there

Edit- what oldster said

Thanks Oldster & Alaskan!

So maybe I could put my 8 plants under the one light?

I have a T5 here, should I change one of my HID's maybe for the T5? The t5 still has blue spec bulbs at the moment though.

Sanguine, I'm thinking it maybe a bit overkill now myself. . As it's a large tent I thought 2 600 HIDs would be fine, obviously not lol

Ive got a 4x4 tent and use 1 600w hps. But i live in a cold climate so need a small tube heater in there as well to get temps to around 24-25oc have you got a thermometer/hygrometer? If not i would pick one up

A 600 watt HID is standard recommendation for about 9 sq ft of space you have 8. If you want to add some blue light which can be good during veg I would get a metal halide bulb and swap out your HPS until plants are in bloom.

With one light running for a few hours check the temperature at the very top of your plants, it should not be over 80 degrees F, if it is still above that you will need to increase ventilation.
