So the time has finally come for my first entry into my long-anticipated summertime grow log. This is my first time growing any type of auto-flowering cannabis. The two strains I personally selected for this grow are the famed, exotic Dark Devil from Sweet Seeds, & Auto Seed's alluringly potent Candy Kush. I received a photo Blue Mystic as a freebie and have decided to include her in this grow as well.

I decided I would go ahead on this grow despite a restrictive budget and very few options for quality grow space. My five day old sprouts are housed underneath a 400w HPS running at half power in 3 gallon pots containing a simple, inert soil mixture. The medium consists of sand, generous portions of perlite, compost, a little peat, and plain dirt. I have two fans moving air and cooling the grow. No added nutrients or fertilizers yet. I have not decided on a nutrient product, but inevitably plan on purchasing one shortly.

Although I've done my homework, this grow presents many challenges for me. There is a real possibility that I may have to rearrange my "situation" multiple times to bring this grow to harvest. Balancing the good, the bad, and the ugly is essential if im going to have any success. My grow room is a hellishly hot place, to aid in keeping cool all girls are on a somewhat unconventional 8 hour dark, 16 hour light schedule. I have been saving up to replace my HPS with something safer and better suited for my space. Im really looking forward to the pending upgrade. I still have many things to consider about this grow as it progresses, but I have a confident and loving attitude even though I'm a little nervous. I hold the privilege to be able to have a grow at all in high reverence and i'm immensely fortunate to experience this journey. Im gunna be patient, keep it simple, and try my best.

Not too much to show right now as the girls are only 5 & 6 days old. Today they received their first thorough watering and seem to be chilling fine. Right now my biggest immediate concern is the high risk of heat stress so this is what I will be working to improve in my area. I also plan to feed them lightly as soon as I get their yummy food. In my fotographs each plant has a different stone sitting in the pot so I can tell them apart.

Blue Rock: Blue Mystic
Yellow Rock: Candy Kush
Purple Rock: Dark Devil

I will update the log at intervals of interest; about every two weeks or so. Till then best wishes and Love to the Autofam <3

Oh, the woes of the unfree grower....:deadhorse:
But I digress.
Good morning autofam (: long time no see.
I haven't been as active as I wanted, and have slacked on the journal updates. Apologies to anyone who had interest in my grow log. So far this has been a hard grow for me to control and I've made some huge mistakes, to the point I was almost not going to update because of sheer shame lol. I decided to post again because it shows the process and results of a grow where everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong. Im gunna finish these plants and be happy with whatever they give me; which is better than what I have now: nothing.
On the bright note, I've learned a shit ton about Autos. I feel much better about starting my next grow correctly, but till then here is an update on my little hall of shame for the curious.... :ladies:

For some growing is instinctive ... for others not so much ... but all can learn ... autos can be challenging ... good luck w/ finishing this grow and feel free to ask questions before starting the next one ... lot of folks here anxious to help ...

That's the way I feel about it. I'd be too embarrassed to update my ugly plant grow, but I figure that what I've learned so far makes it worth it. Besides, just think how much better our next grow will be!

The first major mistake was that I was over excited and under prepared... I started germinating before I even had soil and didn't bother getting a pH control kit until a problem became apparent in the second week of growth. When I done my bagseed photos I never had to ph or use nutes and It was gravy... I decided to get fem seeds after I had an all male grow (sausagefest) and decided on autos because I needed meds soon...the only fare around locally is shitty cartel crap that I won't ever buy again. So I went into this a bit too quick, thinking i wouldn't have a such a hard time, even though I knew off the bat I had limited options and a very stressful environment. I'm taking some pics now lol

So this is a look of what I've got going on here....During the second week of veg growth I noticed all three of my plants stopped growing and started becoming yellow. By the time I ordered a ph kit and nutes, they had become completely yellow and were beginning to die. It didn't help at all that the temperature pretty high too. I found out the ph of my soil was DIRE, and the ph of my tap water was also awful. I corrected the ph and gave my dying three week old plants a full dose of nutes. I saw a change in a day, with new green growth emerging. I knew I had stunted them horribly, but I saw they had a strong will to live; especially the dark devil. I am at day 55 from seed right now. My photo blue mystic is doing great; I just switched her to 12/12 to bloom two days ago. The other two Autos are also now on 12/12. I figure at this point, it is what it is, and I'm ready to finish and start over fresh. I regret not putting embarrassment aside & posting my problems here when they happened so that I could get help and advice.

This is the Candy Kush, I saw the first pistils on day 40 and have since leaned her over to get more light to the flowers. She's not gunna be a big girl at all, her length is maxed out at 14 inches. Leaves showing evident signs of heat stress

Next in the hall of shame; The champion of the autos so far has been my beloved dark devil, ever since it busted out the seed it wanted to grow. Even for a stunted girl she's sitting pretty at a skinny 20 inches but she's colorful and shiny. I have hope she'll beef up a little more before she's done. I've got her leaned over a little bit to get more light to the sides and bottom.
