What opened your eyes Wiz?

Hey Nelson..they left last Monday.....

I've had some down time coz the kids have been over on a visit....and unfortunately I go down when we have visitors..

I feel like I have been trampled by a horse..all over...about 140 years old..

But..I'm overdosing like Mad...:smokebuds:..so I will be back in the Schwing shortly..

:crying:....Me Too....

It opened my eyes..

Well this week coming up is the last of the seeds I will be planting for my bubbly tank. I am going to give it a rest hopefully by July7. I am just not into running the hydro tank and fighting with the heat this year. I will start up my auto seeds Sept 1 for next Falls season.

Well this year is closing out on a wonderful note as the bubbly tank is producing better than ever. What made it better.

I think three things.

The first is that I don't start the hatchlings in the bubble tank like I used to. I now have three totes that they start in. They used to start in bloom nuits in the bubbly tank and now they start in growth nuits which are much higher in nitogen. Not only do the plants get bigger before they go to the showing sex stage but they have much bigger root systems.

The second is the addition of some LED lighting supplementing the CFL.

The third is a switch to AN Spectra nuits.

The average plant coming out of my SOG style bubbly tank is producing 30% more dry weight than last year. Continuing using three main crop tyoes. Magic Dragon, Mi5 X Snowryder, Diesel Ryder. I throw in whatever people send me to try. I am also very happy with the cross Skull ryder X Blue Hymalaya Diesel. My wife loves the smell of it.

I am in the last 30 days of this year's run and harvesting three plants a day on the average. Will be closing the main bubbly tank down for July and August as I just don't want to fight the heat and I need the break. Lots of other outside stuff going on in the Summer. I don't want to be a slave to my grow. Thanks a lot for following along. Thanks my lucky stars no spider mites this year.

Wow, a 30% increase is significant. Given the number of plants you have in there you're talking pounds. Congrats. Who said old dogs can't learn new tricks?

Someone PMd me and pointed out I had to add the extra plants in the totes to the increase. How right they were it is 36 more plants in the loop. I guess that sure is part of the increase.in over all net yield. I was mostly talking about weight per plant in dried bud when I counted the increase or yield per plant. Moving up to 105 plants from 69 does increase the over all yield for sure. it sure increases the turn over out of the bubbly tank. Instead of plants being in the bubbly tank for all ten weeks they are now only in their for 5 or 6 weeks. Yes I am harvesting 10 a week or so.

I think us old dogs stay young by being open to learning new tricks. I like dealing with young people which I do a lot of in the Breeders club in person. Talking with them on this site helps also. But I do learn from the old dogs as well - like Muddy. Always a great source of common sense.

Thanks to all of you who have been supportive with even their thoughts. Always appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words. It's a two way street. You tend to do things differently and I've learned a thing or two from you as well.

Wow, talk about production. Right on, Nelson!

My production although fairly large in plant count. It is not great for pictures as the plants are grown SOG style and tend to be less than an oz dry. Doesn't make for great pictures. But it does add up quickly and gives me a wide variety to choose from for our smoking pleasure.

I smoke a lot of Sativa types through the day.

In the evening I like pure Afghani, LA Confidential and Trainwreck and the auto Diesel Ryder.. Woman have to stay clear of Trainwreck as it is a bit like a date rape drug. I have no idea why it has that effect on women.

Got a PM that asked me what was the most productive plant in SOG style growing like I do with bubbly hydro. Mind you I also grow in containers, hanging bags and raised beds.

I guess what they are talking about is yield per plant and minimum interference with adjacent plants. There are so many other criteria it is hard to just address this issue without mentioning them.

The best plants for production in my tank are two which are about equal. Cobra and a Mini-gun X Cobra cross. They both grow is a single colon bud on a stick type of plant. Minimum branching and good hard tight bud. It is a touch on the flowerey side for my tastes but that really suits my wife. Not quite as good but close in production is a Cobra X Diesel Ryder cross I grow. Using the crosses keeps my seed cost down. Cause I just breed them myself of course. The Cobra X Diesel cross is a bit of a stinker growing that doesn't bother me but could concern others if the smell is a problem. It has a little better bag appeal and way betternose in the bag. A big factor I always find.

I grow many others of course but mostly I was just answering from the production in SOG aspect.

Well enough procrastination time to get the indoor autos going for the Winter season. My outside raised beds still need harvesting some of them anyway. My high balcony grow is winding down to seven plants. My swamp grow has tto come in next week before deer hunters are out in force. Some of them have waders. I got two seeded plants to bring in and harvest the seeds off of.

I have planted 72 medium jiffy pucks with seeds in a flat with the clear plastic top. It is sitting on my plant heating pad on my kitchen table. I love this moment of all those seedlings breaking ground. Time to mix up some coffee spray to fight damp off.

Someone suggested I do a picture thing of all the steps in getting the bubbly tank up and running. Are any of you interested in this idea?
