Grow Mediums Nebula Cheese + Alien RDWC Pro (55l pots)

falling anvil.gif You are true-ly in good hands now

Thanks for this thread True, i just started an RDWC myself and was wondering about getting the uk/eu versions of the hissenburg tea. Will be following you closely and thank Groff for all the info too.

Shit true... I'm really sorry man to not have responded to your PM's. Weekends are the worse form me, its when I work the most. And to sort you out I really need to lay down some good text.

I've hardly had time to read your PM's, but I understand time is of the essence.

Before all, drain your system to the best possible, The Pro is a bit hard to fully drain, but an 5 buck manual siphon will do the final job nicely for those final bits. Take get each plant into the bathroom and give the roots a nice luke warm shower,medium/strong pressure. Older dead or flimsy roots will fall of, as well as most slime and gunk. Also, company water has a nice dose of chloride that will further help kill some nasties. Refill the system, but try to keep it cold for now.

Please please learn how to manually white balance your camera so we can see the actual colors of your shots. Turn off your ePapillon and turn on the T5's. At this age they wont care much, and it will bring down the ambient temp. Set your chiller to 14ºC-16ºC, so it works to keep the water as cool as possible. This will (hopefully) dramatically slow down plant/bacteria physiology without harming the actual plants. IF you have extra air pumps, blast more air into each bucket.

This will obviously will stunt them, but will also stun your potential root rot outbreak and give us time for preventive measures. Tomorrow I'll find the time to do you a write up, I really gotta go. But for tomorrow, run down to any agro shop and get the following

-High grade warm casting (humus), no cheap stuff, buy a branded one, and not the liquid kind.
- Agro-bacteria. Any kind. with or without (but preferably) mycos. Any agro shop has them. Its a small powder vil, usually used to boost soil activity, costs around 2 or 3 quid and will last you foreer, something like this
http://www.servovendi.com/uk/powder-additive-bacillus-mycorrhizae-agrobacterias-bactohemp-50g.html
- Blackstrap unsulphured molasses, or legit high grade natural honey (any health food section should have this)
- A bucket
- thermometer
- An oil heater (to keep close to bucket and help the temps up)
- Strongish airpump and stone

Thats your Sunday emergency shop list. Tomorrow morning I'll drop you the rest of the recipe, but feel free to start and add about 20L of water to the bucket and let it bubble to get rid of the chloride. Tomorrow, drop in about 5 cups full of worm wasting, pump always on, and get the heater close to slowly rise the water temp to around 21ºC.

Hopefully, in 3 days time from now you'll get this going. Tomorrow I'll explain the rest.

Keep on monitoring your roots and lets us know how it goes. This sh!t happens to all of us eventually, happened to me my first time on the little alien.

You seen, when you have sterile system, both the bad guys and the good guys compete to overrun the system. So its absolutely natural to have this happen.

We shall create an army of super-troops to get rid of those f*ckers!

groff out - late as sh!t .. here, keep this...:Sharing One:

Talk to me brother Groff :)

Yeah... :( sorry mate

Got called again on work, was out a few days... I'm getting fed up of freelancing... Let me just roll up a spliff and I'll lay out a puuuuuurfect recipe with the stuff I told you to get.

The general idea is to make an Ibiza style nightclub for Bacteria. Lets call it "La Bacteria Loca"

1 - get bucket, for your system I would say you need about 40L, the usual household ones are 20...

2 - Pump up the jam! Insert airstones, hook up the airpump and get the groove on! The more the better. Get the dancefloor going...

3 - Chloride is added to municipal water to kill nasties, so if you can let it bubble for 24h, if in a rush, drop 5-6 cup fulls of worm casting per 20L, free floating and dancing around the bucket. Worm castings has both bacteria, and nice extra minerals the plants will love, so its better to evaporate the chloride before this. Not an issue if using RO water

4 - Make the best effort to keep water at 21ºC (+/- 2ºC) - best reproduction condition for bacteria

5 - 24h after adding the worm castings in, at least 12-24h of bubbling the chloride away, add 2 or 3 tea spoons of bacteria into the mix. This will make the dance-floor very lively with some exotic aerobic dancers...

6 - Drop in 3 tablespoons of unsulphured blackstrap molasses. This is the equivalent of raining ecstasy pills over 'yer typical young horny 20 year olds. The bacteria will go completely bananas over it. They'll feed on that and reproduce like rabbits.

7 - 24h later, you should should see some foam accumulating at the top. This is EXCELLENT!! The bacteria are coming in masses, pun intended. And because we are in emergency root saving mode and not preventative mode, add 2 or 3 teaspoons of bacteria in there AGAIN, plus another 3 tablespoons of molasses (or 100% natural honey) - BUT - wait 24h for the molasses to get consumed. This party will be one heck of a party!

8 - 24 later, you should see a LOT more foam accumulation at the top. Success!! Party almost over - should sell nice and earthy, caramel-ly, woody, you know... nice and foresty, sweet beer even... It must smell pleasant, even if confusing.

9 - If you bought fungi in powder, now is the time to drop some in, 4 tea spoons per 20L. Stop the airpump after 15 minutes. Drain the liquid and remove solids (use panties or a strainer). I prefer panties 'cos I'm slightly kinky and I get an excuse to check my girl's legs ... (but then I have to get her new ones and that really boring... so up to you)

10 - Get your filtered 40L, drop 2 cups per netpot, and straight in 30L... keep around 10L for the next few days, in the fridge! It will be good for about 5 to 10 days. Smell is of the essence. Should smell caroty, fruity, woody. If it smells farty, socky, arm-pitty .... its off, throw it away.

11 - Drop 1 cup per day over the netpot, which is where most bacteria manages to survive the longest, until you're out.

12 - start making more tea!! One thing is prevention, the other is a full-on fight against slime and root rot !

Recommendations. Bad bacteria (anaerobic), the ones that cause slime and rot, also LOVE sugar. So less is more!!! You dont want sugar going in to the main system, but eaten up and depleted by the aerobic bacteria (oxygen loving bacteria) while making tea. No way to actually know, so use this advice as thumbnail direction;

- Basically, the whole process takes 2 to 3 days tops. Take notes. The more foam vs less sugars you use, the better.

- As all nightclubs, "La Bacteria Loca", should have minimal light, if not total dark.

- Water temp is CRUCIAL for bacterial development. The more near to 21ºC, the less sugar needed in the tea. But dont stress too much with this recipe. If you manage to get some nice foam going, you've got a MASSIVELY HUGE army of good guys, and they're 99% guaranteed to win by numbers. But, one battle may not be enough. Start brewing more as soon as you finish one round.

- When you drop the filtered tea in (dont want to funk up the pumps!), it is natural the pH will rise. Let it for a day or two. It may or may not drop naturally down, but just let it go. 2 days after, if needed, pH correct. What I usually do is actually take water from the system, fully loaded with the bad guys, as the base water for making tea. This will vastly improve performance as you will naturally breed anaerobic-specific predating species and already has a lowered starting pH, which also helps in the end.

- STOP USING H202 !! ;) It kills everything then the bad guys can come in and win.

TAKE PICTURES !! Don't be shy! By error and sharing we learn, adapt, adopt and improve! And the best resource for you to look back into 6 months, 1 or 2 years, and actually improve massively. Learn which advice was good or not, what you did good or not etc. Brilliant resource. Love this forum.

OH !! Almost forgot... beneficial tea brewing with worm casting in the mix WILL stain your roots. New growth should always be sparkly white, and you should see that 2 to 3 days after dropping the tea in. But as the roots mature, they will get stained to a beige or even slight maroon tone. This is expected.

DR GROFF IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate thanks for all that. I really appreciate it, LOVING the club theme :)

This is what I have:
1 Addis 48 litre black bin with lid and I cover with a blanket for total black out.
1 Hailea 2204 air pump and 2 golf ball air stones
Organic black strap molasses
Great White Premium Mycorrihizae powder
Floating temp gauge
Plagron earth worm castings
Myco Madness powder
Bio Bizz premix - My local shop sold me this as earth worm castings. I emailed Bio Bizz, its not EWC but they said its ok to brew with.

Questions Questions Questions :)
Not sure about my air pump is strong enough?
Not sure about the Myco Madness, I think this is similar to Great White, just use the same?
Not sure about using Bio Bizz Premix?
Point 9 above in your post - Fungi. I dont have no fungi. What is this and where do you buy it please?

Im very grateful for your time.
Thanks

Just to update things properly.
Things went down hill, heat and fan issues now resolved. This may or may not have started my root rot.
This being well over a week ago now.

I brewed 50 litres with molasses and great white. Poured a litre over each pot and the rest went into the Alien system.
Note there were no earth worm castings in this brew.
I did notice a pick up in the plants and new white roots. Although this stalled after a day or two max.

I did the same brew, still no earth worm castings, let it brew for 3 days this time, not 2.
Again I noticed a pick up in my plants and white root growth but again this stalled / dropped off after a day or so.

As it stands now my plants are growing but still unwell, some lower leaves are dried up and have signs of lock out or something.
My roots and system do not smell, that has stopped after the big res change and h202 session.
My roots look like shit, there is brown slimey roots then new white growth. Im conflicted whether there on the mend or not.

Res temp is 18c with chiller
EC 0.5
PH 6
Room temp 25c
Lights on 24 hours
Photo plants not autos.

Ive been down in the dumps, my earth worm castings never arrived. I just thought fuck it, I will take some cuttings, dump the plants, disinfect and start again.
Thats still my plan unless things pick up.

Also Ive realised my filtered water is not filtered and I believe my water is contaminated in some way. Im going to post a new thread about this.
So Ive been off and bought a new RO system. This arrived today and tomorrow I will get it going.

My plan:
1. Take some pictures with the lights off and post on here.
2. Get a 50l brew on as before + earth worm castings + Myco Madness following Groffs guide (no bio bizz premix until someone gives me the all clear)
3. Take some cuttings just incase it all goes tits up
4. Dump the res - refill with lovely new RO water and set the EC at 0.4 just using House & Garden Aqua Flakes A&B, nothing else.
5. Clean the Alien filters, these have been messy!
6. Give the roots a wash best I can, this is not easy, no access to a shower

What do you all think to the plan?
If in a week nothing much improves, its over and Im starting again.

Does anyone have any EC guidance for me please?
Since the res change EC is 0.3, yes very low but before at EC 0.5 (still very low) I had signs of over fert.
That said now I think my roots are improving my ladies need more food. Who knows?

Ive got signs of nute deficiency, red stems and browning leaves.
According to this guide they need more food.
