Indoor Mz.W's perpetual grow...grow journal

I always put mine inside the tent. Works fine unless you have too much exhaust going on. Then all your moist air is just getting sucked right out of the tent. When I am fighting low humidity I use my speed controller and slow down the fan as much as possible.

Bots- is there a way to lessen the exhaust? lol if you read the post ^^ up there, you'll see we've got another fan and a controller coming....at some point haha (youd have to read the post to get it lol) But until then - without completely turning the fan off and waiting for the humidity to go up and then turning it on when it gets too warm and then repeating the process, is there a way to keep humidity up??

You could try putting some wet towels and containers of water in there. Anything wet with air blowing across it will help in desperate times.

WITH A THERMOSTAT VS. FAN SPEED CONTROL, YOU CAN HAVE REAL TEMPERATURE-BASED CONTROL. I say forget about funky speed controls.

Why not use a thermostat control, such as the Lux Win100? It cost me $30+ dollars delivered. See http://luxproducts.com/thermostats/win100.php and other (probably better) online descriptions and cheaper sources. You set the temperature as which you want something (the fan) to turn on at, and how many degrees lower you want it to go before it turns if off. My Win100 sits on top of an LED light, about 2 feet above the canopy (with it warmer by about 8˚F up there). I have it set to turn on at 84˚F, when the canopy temp. is 78˚F and turn off after cooling 1 degree. Actually, with the unit made to control heaters and air conditioners, it's not instantly responsive to temperature swings (you wouldn't want that), and waits a minute or more for temperatures to stabilize. So when it come on it actually runs longer than just cooling by 1 degree and cools the canopy to 74˚F (a 3˚F swing--very acceptable). With my tent and setup, it cycles on and off every few minutes. Also, by only running the fan when needed, it saves electricity and makes less noise. It cycles way more than enough to rather constantly be fully exchanging the air (in my tent). I see total air exchange every cycle, e.g., with the humidity going lower in the tent than ambient humidity (due to air warming in the tent).

Black Dog, a high-end (expensive) LED manufacturer, recommends the WIN100. See https://www.blackdogled.com/products/accessories/luxpro-programmable-outlet-thermostat.html.

I would like to officially report....

The beans are here!

And in record time if I do say so. I think my order from dr. green seeds took like...2 weeks or so....give or take a day. Granted...the dr green seeds came from spain where as The Single Seed Center is based in the UK. I'm just like...blown away cause I really wasn't expecting them this soon. Oh well. I'm happy :)

Now I just have to figure out which strains I wanna do first, and what Im gonna do with this soil conundrum.

well. I don't know how accurate its going to be, so I'm not going to do anything based solely on these results (unless one of you fine people can tell me its fine to do so, that is lol.)

I mixed each soil in its own (clean) cup with regular water (water from the tap thats sat out 24 hours...same water i give the plants) at a 1:1 ratio. I''ll let it marinate if you will, lol, for about a half hour then i'll go up and use my Oakton to check the pH of the water/soil solution. Hopefully this will give me the correct soil pH...if not....well....it was something to do! lol
Anyone know if this is gonna work the way I think it is? lol

Not only did the seeds come today, we also ended up getting the fan and fan related things lol. So K will soon be installing all that jazz and hopefully
we'll get this shit under control.
I mean...its not out of control either but the humidity definitely needs to be upped in there lol.

As far as the beans go, I'm trying to narrow it down lol.
I've got 3 pots I can use, and in turn can choose 3 strains.
I *think* i've got the ones I want to do first chosen..and those 3 are Cream of the Crop Amphetamine, Sweet Ice Cool and one of the freebies - blimburn ak automatic.

yep. I think thats gonna be the winning combo, haha.

When doing a slurry test for pH, you want to use a container for the soil and the same container for the water. Equal parts like you said. But you want to use distilled water. Tap has calcium carbonate added to it and will buffer the slurry you created giving you a false reading.

Shake it a little and let it settle for about 15 minutes and take a reading. That will give you an excellent soil pH. You can check the EC of your soil the same way for future reference to tell how "hot" it is.

I'll have to do the test again then. I did use the same containers for the water and the soil but used tap water..The readings came back as the roots at 6 and the HF at 5.7. Its easy enough to get distilled water though, so distilled it shall be :)
