Hello, informed and knowledged people.

New member here hoping to benefit from the vast knowledge contained in this hopefully friendly place.

I am trying autos for the first time and my two ladies, who both took to bondage like a burlesque dancer, have almost no perfume and very little resin.

They are on Day 62 of as long as it takes. Their first 15 days were outside due to fabulous weather but then inside under a 250 hps for 10 more days then a 600 hps until now. The strain is 2 vast 2 fast from the lovely people at heavyweight and they are showing beautifully tight buds covered in pistils but no smell and not really sticky. They are in 40% tropic mix (a proprietary soil from growell) 40% coco 20% perlight roughly. They are on 600 - 800 ppm food with oxygen and ph balanced water.

My experience has been totally photoperiod but I don't like the flood and famine of harvest, so, my plan is to have 6 plants with two coming up every month keeping me and Babs fed with perhaps a little left over for the 12 strains of Christmas (planned for 2019!). From reading, I may have to up it to three per month as 2 oz pm is not going to cut it. This obviously, is thanks to the 18/6 constant or should that better be 20/4?

The teenagers are gorilla glue and they seem too fast for their own good but we shall see.

I thank you in advance even if it is only tales of woe explaining where I have messed up. I wish to learn and already have found here many resources and aspirational photos.

Hey T&B - Welcome to AFN! :d5:

Sounds like you're doing everything about right to me - I personally have run both 20/4 and 24 hours light for best results.
I'd normally reckon on an auto taking about 80 days (that's what i budget for anyway). Are you feeding bloom nutes and a PK additive yet?

Sounds like it's a good first attempt and 90% there! :d5:

I get 1 to 2 Oz a plant every 2 weeks with a 6 to 8 plant rotation, depending on how quick they finish. I am in a very small space but start a plant every 2 weeks in 5 litre pots with soil. Sometimes they are loaded with trichs and sometimes not (especially if it gets warm) :(

Sent from my comfy chair.

Hi Blue,
I have been using bloom nutes for the last 25 days but in small measure and no pk yet. Everywhere kept warning me how sensitive these little ladies can be, I actually started with four but shouted too loud at two and they went down with an attack of the vapors never to rise again, honestly, I could hear the darlings say "Vic, I've fallen" if you're young enough for the reference!
They have just woken up so I poked my finger into one of the lovely tight calyxes and it was left a little sticky with a faint pong, So perhaps the proscribed extra 18 days will have them as fragrant as a French boudoir and as sticky as a rum baba.
Thank you for your time and typing, I feel more encouraged.
I will change to 20/4, surely all ladies should have some rest?
T&B

They are not nearly as fragile as the rumor mills say...

I average 8 - 10 zips per plant and I take some to 120 days, but most are 75-85 days.

In my HID set up I found 18/6 gave me the heaviest yield and greatest potency... YMMV

Yes rest can be beneficial :hookah:

Its very early yet... let em run... they will fill and swell.

Peace

My tent carries very low humidity and I don't get terribly stinky plants, nor do I get terribly sticky plants

It's the strain boi
I know a dude grows humidity 10 where I'm at 70 his buds sticky as fk..
Imo anything heavyweight eg their crippling smells of straw it's yield over flavour... Go Dinafem n don't go back

Is that a generally perceived opinion or just a personal one? I was about to order from the gorilla seed company but don't see them recommended here whereas your rec is.
These ladies are all for me, Babs and perhaps swapsies so it's flavour and finery over, abundance every time.
Going to look at the dina cat now thanks.

Only born yesterday and thanks to beautiful people like you I have more knowledge today and will know even more tomorrow.
I will let them run till they feel right. I may have a small slip of the scalpel on an outrigger just to watch it dry.
A Wonderful weekend to you.

I don't know about HW - not grown anything by them, but will strongly vouch for Mephisto & Sweet Seeds - they've always been exactly what i hoped for in the flavour department and have yielded fine (or rather well) for me as a personal grower.

I've recently got into (semi) organics using Biotabs (in a suitable grow soil) with Autopots - makes things very easy and predicatable.

Check them all out - all good people here! :D

-- and to answer some of your points (forgot!)

I'd say you need to be more carefull in the first 3 weeks. If you bugger it before then, it "can" have a big effect on how it turns out.

I like to use day 20 as a indicator to how they're doing. In my normal sized pots, the fans should have reached the edges by then.

"Vic, I've fallen" if you're young enough for the reference!

Don't let my perfect complexion fool you both ... I'm merely made of plastic. Fortunately still in mint condition. (minus the box (which is now full of frogs))

They have just woken up so I poked my finger into one of the lovely tight calyxes and it was left a little sticky with a faint pong, So perhaps the proscribed extra 18 days will have them as fragrant as a French boudoir and as sticky as a rum baba.

That's the spirit. :coffee: ... don't stop believing.

You're both very welcome, happy growing and don't forget to add PK to make your buds fatten up and reach their potential. So many options, like dutch pro explode if you use chems and PH acids - or BioPK (from biotabs) if you don't.

Sleep/Rest.
Some of the professional breeders (like my above mentioned list), will breed and grow autos in 24 hours light. A true auto doesn't need a dark period.

Some would say giving it some sleep helps.
Some would say a dark period after chop helps.
Some say defoliation helps.
Some say autos aren't as good as photos.
Some people talk about "flushing" at certain points.

Those are some fun debates which we'll still be debating in another 10 years

People don't half like to talk!
