New Grower My first grow

Hey I also have a question…do the first 2 leaves that just have one finger count as a node? I’m assuming so because there’s new growth at it but if so my 5th are coming out now and I’d have to top real soon so I wanted to confirm.

Journal Day 9

The outside temperature is rising from a beautiful 66 average the last couple weeks to 77 today. 73-71 forecast this week so I have my in-room AC on low to combat higher tent temp with the exhaust fan. I figure I’m raising my light power soonish so I need to get cooler air sucked into the tent anyhow. Intake opening is floor level screen and exhaust in opposite corner ceiling and dropped auto fan speed from 6 to 4. Seems to work well since cooler air is dropping humidity a smidge.

The plants drooped for the first time a bit after watering but recovered pretty quickly. I’ve read that’s natural but it got me thinking and I raised the pole fan from near floor up to level of the pots themselves in hopes it will help “air out” the pots. I think I should’ve been doing this from the beginning. Also decided to try dropping humidity for a while right after watering thinking maybe the plant will draw more moisture from the pot rather than the air. We’ll see, the fun is in the learning ESPECIALLY if I can let the plant teach me the most.

Inadvertently I’m discovering that just hanging my plants in my grow room will work great for drying as I am getting a room temp/RHof 64/50 and I think that will work with a fan also blowing on them. Man how cool is it gonna be to be faced with the decision of where to dry my homegrown buds? Most cool I say! PeaceView attachment 1471251View attachment 1471252

Yes, that first set of "true leaves" counts as node "1". I struggled with the same thing. I usually top at 5/6 or so. I like to snip when there is enough stem to comfortably get the scissor blades on it. Whether you go and snip between 4/5 or 5/6, you will have a nice plant. It's really a test and tune for personal preference. If you're within 3 weeks thats ideal.

Thanks a bunch, I‘m going after 5th. Seems a good middle ground to test how high they will grow vs the temp they will meet when they get there. They‘re 16 days so good to know I’m on schedule. Much appreciated because like any new parent I thought my children were extraordinary and growing way ahead of schedule.

Journal Day 11
11 and 18 days old

11s on week 2 feed 18s on week 3 feed. Everyone is growing and appear happy. 11 day old Grappa (back row middle) is behind a bit popping out the nodes but has same size early leaves as others so I’ll chalk that up to genetics for now. 74/60 current tent conditions. 1gal humidifier has worked great, 24 hours a fill. Some leaves have two-tone areas with slightly lighter shade green, keeping an eye for possible changes towards yellow but doesn’t appear headed in that direction. The 6th nodes are popping out so I’ll be topping tomorrow or next day it looks like. Still crazy to me, this thing grows like a weed. Thats about it info wise so on to todays pics. They’re just waking up and that little bit of droop is usually gone in an hour. And as always, the suggestion box is open! Peace

Strawberry Nuggets x Skywalker plants growing so different! One taller with skinnier leaves and other can’t seem to grow out of its own way with chubby leaves stacked on top of each other.

They are all looking great. Let em grow! It's easy to get caught up in minor leaf issues very early on. For the most part they grow past it and think of those first couple leaves/nodes as the plant waking up in the AM, before coffee, and trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

Thanks D! I agree for sure, I see nothing at all to worry about at this point I just watch my leafs for signs. I’m stoked about these babies, they’re the first thing I’ve ever planted from seed. My mantra is “it’s just a weed” because it helps me chill haha I don’t expect it to be complicated, but especially so if I’m vigilant about any signs of tomfoolery. My guess is when I’m drying em is when I’ll start stressing lol

When I look at my short stubby girl I see an easier-to-achieve level canopy of all 10 nodes when I tie down some stems. Ones that stretch seem like the bottom nodes would be less than half way up and maybe that’s where bending the stalk early comes into play? I might try that with one of the young ones, big girls have stalks like sharpies already.
