New Grower My first grow

Journal Day 20
20 and 27 days old

With the older 2 I’m currently doing a lot of layered leaf tucking. The goal isn’t to get light to bud sites, it’s to get light to the leaves. My understanding is the leaves are the food bank for the plant and that’s where the photosynthesis happens, so in the real bushy plant I’m trying hard to get the inner leaves out. Theyre getting a little stretch going but one much more than the other.
I cut the very bottom growth on the first nodes on both plants because I feel like they’re a waste of resources. They’ll never get enough light to be an asset so I’m hoping to throw more love to those that can. No other defol yet though, because I’d think that if I want colas to develop at full potential I should be encouraging their fan leaf growth not cutting em off. When they get older and develop more fans to support them is when I’ll look in to more defol.
Young kids super close to topping 5/6 but I’m giving thought to 6/7 and removing the 1st nodes. I don’t know if that’s a good or horrible idea, it just seems like they’d be skinnier at the bottom with an “easier to level” canopy. Any thoughts on that are appreciated. Happy growing! Peace

The kids just woke up so pardon the droopy eyes

The kids sleep 7a-1p and that’s when I get home and start with the nurturing and pics and they’re always sleepy. So here’s a couple pics of them in the middle of their day. The growth stands out more as the leaves raise.

Looking really good! I joined the party late but I'm following along now. :pop: My plants are right around the same age as yours.
Thanks Dank much appreciate. Your plants are pretty delicious themselves and I very much dig your water setup. Let’s grow buddy!

Thank you I appreciate it! It's a constant work in progress but I enjoy it lol.
Your CDLC seems to be pretty bushy like my kid, were you leaf tucking a lot early on to expose the inner growth until you got some stretch going? Huge leaves on a short plant are pain in my ass hahaha

I feel that completely lol. And no I mostly left it alone till I was able to tuck the big leaves under the nodes. Kinda tight at first but as they got more light they started to grow above. Big PITA as I had to keep redoing it multiple times a day since they popped back up from the fans.

Yeah I waited too because too soon kinda squished the nodes. Its weird because it’s the fan leaves BELOW the node that would block it. I assumed fans grew kinda horizontally but their stems are vertical and leaves are huge. And it felt more important to get fan leaves love early on more so than the nodes, letting nature take its course. I constantly remind myself that nature knows what it’s doing lol hopefully keeps me out of trouble.

Yeah honestly some of the best plants Ive grown I did nothing to at all training wise. May have been able to get more yeild but I already get more than I need so less work is more ideal for me.
