Hi Indy it won't help answer your questions and solve your immediate problems, but issues like this are a good advert for light soils. I know fox farm has one but I don't know the name, and biobizz have light mix (Biobizz also have all mix which is like ffof in that it's a strong and active soil, too hot for some strains and can easily burn young plants).
Lighter mixes give more control so you know how much of everything is in the mix. I go with these over strong mix like ffof just cos if something goes wrong in a strong mix, it can be hard to tell what it is and how to fix it. Easier to keep the lid on a light soil and just add grow n bloom.
Hopefully the effects won't be too prolonged or damaging in this case, and it's nothing to get upset about anyways :smoking:

No doubt. I won't use FFOF again, that's for sure. And I'm always calm about growing -- definitely not upset. it's a super fun new hobby for me. I just like trying to figure things out, and when something is going wrong, it's time to try to figure. :)

I’d planned on following Full Duplex’s lead with my new grow. He’s been using Bio365’s BioAll, and top dressing once a week with KIS Organics Nutrient Packs once his girls show sex. He’s approached it that simply and said it’s just been perfect for him. But damn, BioALL appears to be hotter than FFOF.

FFOF is 0.30 - 0.45 - 0.05, and BioALL is 0.45 - 0.18 - 0.40.

I plan on growing his Anvil autofem next grow, in addition to a couple of Mephisto strains, just to make sure I’m covered with good genetics at least.

But he’s a master. Maybe I should change gears and work with something way lighter. I have plenty of time to work that out.

One final question, @Mañ'O'Green. Is it possible there’s something else in my spring water, not indicated by my PH and PPM, that is contributing to this problem? Water is one of the few input variables I seem to be able to control in this soil currently, so I figure it’s worth asking you about.

What about diseases and things too or its for sure lockout? sorry to see your plants suffer man ; / i hope you can recover to harvest and plan another method next time maybe hydro, you give enough care to your plants i think you can do a DWC no problem and you would be more control of it i think.

@indicalla just remember these are the things that make us better growers. Remember back when you first stated? I said this would happen, not the specific problems per se, just that we all run into issues. Then once we get it figured out we literally never make that mistake again. the pain, frustration, heartache and all that jazz really imprints on us I think and so with that being said we have to go through these tough moments to get good at our craft.

You’ve got this and you will def get the problem figured out. Just remember that you are new and don’t be to hard on yourself

I’ve been growing for 20+ years and I literally have to replant like 15 that I messed up by overwatering and using new soil. Using new stuff always has a learning curve. Even for vets. You’ve got this my man!

Man I love AFN Members, so many good people helping out. :bighug:

Each and every grow style can be a winner or a looser. It ain't easy being Mother Nature.

As to your spring water question yes, it can be filled with minerals but only to the PPM you test. It would be rare to have a single mineral making up that PPM. To know just get it tested.

You still have the problems with unknown quality control but there is less impact with the light mixes. If you are going to grow in soil the most successful growers here on AFN grow in True Living Soils. There are more than one style of doing it organic. If I could lift a pot I would grow in an EarthBox.

There is a lot of different Fishsh!t What brand are you using? Does it smell fresh?

There is always the possibility that the plant is really hungry for balanced nutrients.

I don't know there is just too many unknowns.

It’s the brand called Fishsh!t: https://fishheadfarms.com/ Yeah, it smells fresh. I bought it directly from them. I don’t think it’s that.
