New Grower My first grow - Dinafem Bubba Kush

Day 28
She had some sort of deficiency, just not sure what it is or how to stop it. Steady showing good growth though.

Thanks bro, your little lady is looking good as well!

Hey thanks man. I was planning to let it grow natural. But I just couldn't help myself and ended up topping it yesterday. I just prefer a more even canopy and I find topping makes things easier for me to manage. I updated my journal a couple days ago prior to topping. I'll probably do another progress update Wednesday when I get home. So stay tuned.

Are you growing in soil? What's your pH at? It's looking pretty pale I'm no expert but since I just recently went through something similar it could just be lack of nutrients especially nitrogen. How old is it right now and how much nutes are you feeding

Yea I’m growing in soil. Roots organic and kind soil at the bottom. No idea what my ph is smh lol. I’ve been top dressing buildasoil’s craft blend but it’s still looking pale. The new growth is green though.

Well I'm not really familiar with most the things you mentioned haha. But if new growth is nice and green and remains that way then you should be okay. You really should be monitoring your pH though. Both of your water going in and of your soil itself. If you don't have a pH pen you should get one there really inexpensive. And I was recommended a soil ph meter called "accurate 8" more pricey but told it is really good quality.II'm getting one next week lol. I'm just growing in pro mix with advanced nutrients sensi grow and bloom. I'm still learning new things every grow, but ph of water and soil is very important and the heart of your grow.
But keep an eye on here. And just Remeber making little mistakes or even big ones is all part of the learning experience.

Great advice, Jeff!

Hurricane, I would also say that getting a cheap but good ep/ppm pen is important also. You want to measure how much nutrients they are drinking. Oftentimes, the issues us new growers experience is going to be ph or ppm related. Having an idea what you are doing so you can adjust is critical. You are investing a lot of time and energy in growing, and want to smoke the fruit of your labor!

Hey how exactly do those ppm pens work. How does one tell how much nutrients your plant is taking up with it. I myself have a pH pen. But I thought ppm was only for aquaponics type systems. How does one use the ppm pen for soil?

Since it was a water only system, didn’t think I needed to PH. Im using store bought distilled water too.

Hey Jeff, if you are mixing and feeding nutes, you should test the solution before feeding. If you are only feeding water, it isn't necessary.

overwatering is easy done for new growers, and that can also lead to pale leaves.big pot small plant even easier to overwater.could also be underwater so many bloddy things in growing look the same.
in soil a ppm meter is not at all needed.i got one just to play about with but its more a hydro thing.it can tell us what our tap water is like.my base tap water is 160ppm if it were 800 (unlikely)you may need a RO system.hydro peeps if they feeding 500ppm they will add that to the 160ppm base but not count it.....confuzzled ? stick to soil.
bottled/RO water has no soilids/minerals so trying to ph it can be a nightmare(probably best not to try as you be at it all night).tap water will have small amounts of minerals like calcium.if tap ph is 4 or 9 then you nay need to think about something.
